Karlosdave, did you or does anyone know if you/he got a membership in the end? was it double price or did you manage to get it for the same price as everybody else?

its a long thread, but the professionalism of the fed makes it a good read,

Yes, first European member!!
I can't remember how much I paid either!?! I think it was the same price as U.K. members more or less. But I was sent the straw hat with NFMWC logo instead of the usual peaked cap.

Hi Karl,
bet you look great in ya funny hat, anyway i did ponder with joining as you suggested but really what are you gaining apart from a funny hat :D? I dont think it would make any differance to my clients new or existing, wether or not there window cleaner is a member of nfmwc, as Im pretty sure they wouldnt know what it is either. Most people just want a good cleaner that is reliable, ( and cheap with it 8), but I am open to suggestions.

I also got a blow up beach ball, and the special tinted sunglasses with the logo on.
Besides that, it shows that you are a member of a long standing organisation, and I find is a good marketing tool. I have had more glances at my van & picked up more work because of it - I'd say up 10%. I even try & park somewhere conspicuous! For some reason people don't mind paying more for the work, even though mine is guaranteed.

Hi Karl, that is good news, glad to hear it. do you think people know what it is (say ex pats) or the locals just think it looks pro?

BTW, now you're a member, we expect to see you next weekend at the AGM and Trade Show ;D

I`m sorry, but I dont buy that, I am sure that no ex pats would have a clue who is NFMWC, let alone the the locals. They are probably reading all the other services you provide like you building work, toldos cleaning, etc, etc.

But dont get me wrong, I dont consider myself cheap, as like you I pay my dues here also, and thats not cheap, and also have liability insurance as well, but I see WCers come and go probably as they dont charge enough to start with, and realise that washing windows every day is no fun in 30/40 degrees heat for months on end. :-[

Nope, not sold to the man with a tan 8)

Best regards from Southern Spain

I only advertise the window cleaning! I don't advertise my other work. It's the locals that have more interest than the ex-pats!
