Changed my van setup today. Take a look
« on: August 20, 2006, 09:10:55 pm »
I was playing around with my van setup today.

I used to have a trolley in the back, with my pump box and varistream mounted on It. I would then link up my 250L lay flat tank to this and work that way. I used to fill my tank up with purified water by filling up 25L containers and emptying them Into the tank one by one. That was a pain In the ar*e!

Today I thought that I never use my trolley anymore so why not take off the battery, pump box & varistream and buy a small di vessel! This would do away with the need to carry a trolley and would also mean that I could fill up the tank with tap water. So I did.

Nothing fancy! But here are a couple of pics.

Let me know what you think.

Matthew is the pump before the DI vessel or after, looking at the picture looks
as if it is before the DI vessel, I think.

Just checked with my mate who uses the same set up, he's is set up the
  same as you.

Little tip I wired my pump to my van back light, this eliminates the need for
  the battery.

Yes the straps are fine. There are another 3 to go on. I just didn't get round to putting them on. Will fit them tomorrow first thing.

Thats my dram glass! You need a good dram after some of the hassle I get from some customers!

And yes, It's all houses I do. And the odd large pig pen. (police station)

I take it you mean the interior light,if so thats rather a good idea, does it affect youre battery,by this I mean how long do you use youre pump before you restart youre van?

Yes interior light, have had no problems to date. I use it all day, just move the
   van every now and then.

I do have my old trolley battery in the van as backup if my van battery went
   dead.

The van looks very nice but you have 1 major problem.

Carpet + Water = Rotting carpet = mess = smell = because it remains wet it will rot the metalwork = New Van!

Otherwise, top job.

mathew - can i make a massive safety suggestion.

move the tank to the front of the van.

I know its a lot more convenient where you hgave put it, but the first time you go round a roundabout in the wet with the tank full the chances are that the back end will kick out, don't forget, when full that tank wieghes of a quarter of a ton and not only needs to be secured right, but also positioned properly.

Trev,

I have never had a drop of water on the carpet and It's been In there for a few months now! But then again a connection could come off one day!

Anyway I'm not too bothered about my van as It's on Its last legs now.

Don't worry when I get my new van I'm going to line it with protecta cote.

And do it a bit more proffesionally. This van and setup was just a quick fix to get me up and running.
