I carry a broom handle with hooks in either end and use a step ladder to reach over - works for non-padlocked gates.

To be honest I can't see how a combination lock would help if the gate is locked - most of mine have a bolt frther down than I can reach. There again I am only a shortarse  ;D

this thread is 10 YEARS OLD!! ;D ;D ;D

i text night before or split ladders either side of gate or use my 8ft single pointer.luckily for me its only a few that have locked gates/access issues.

probably about 20 accounts out of around 380 customers!

some of em i can lean over on the pointer and knock the bolt open with my squeegee. ;D
price higher/work harder!

Lads, make your life easier.
Charge the same for front&back as front only if texted.
Soon incentivises people if they're paying for it either way.
I look forward to gates being forgotten  to be unlocked!

One of the local windies do the same thing. They don't phone though. If you are in to unlock the side gate/garage they will do the whole house. If you aren't they will do the front of the house for the same price.
These are trad cleaners and clean every 2 weeks and charge £5.00 for a four bedroom detached house. My price next door is £8.00 every 6 weeks.

This chap wanted me to do his house for £5.00 every 6 weeks. He couldn't see that the higher clean price would save him money over a year. He also couldn't see that it took time to get my A frame steps out of the van that are big enough to climb over his 6' gate. He stormed off in a huff muttering something under his breath which wasn't complementary.
His conversation didn't affect my mood at all to be honest.

No worries.
The way to introduce it is that you're due a price increase but you know things are a bit tight in this economic climate so you won't raise prices but it's a flat monthly fee.
