Stubborn Payers
« on: March 28, 2025, 01:46:21 pm »
This is an interesting story regarding one of my rich customer's. Each month I did the windows and got a constant, not you again I have just paid you. I knew them well and didn't want to drop them as I cleaned most of the street and it was only £8 a month. In the end they dropped me and the grass cutter guy which I was glad about, because I knew something was not right.

In the end they had to sell their home and move in with one's elderly parents. Later on I found out the lady had a habit of buying stuff and they had to sell the home to pay off here debt. Young girl has the house now and I'm back cleaning the windows.

What I'm getting at, customers believe we need their custom, they don't realise we have many customers but tend to hold on to them if we clean the whole street.

Before anyone reports me AGAIN, this bloke brings it upon himself!

you must be doing well if you are only charging £8 for a house that belongs to a rich customer

Ex council homes and I'm up to £9 now. Takes me around an hour but I know all my customers so I have a chat with each of them so in less than 2 hours I trouser over a ton. We have plenty of these type of cleans up here, where folk bought and sold their council house. The lesson I have learned is we all can afford a tenner a month easily but the ones that can't usually have a habit like smoking or something else. Once they begin to moan then its better to tell them to find someone else, took me years to come to this conclusion. This is mainly for Newbies who start out and take anyone on to build a business.

Can't be much of a chat... £50 an hour at £9 =just over 10 mins per house..

that don't make sense, takes 1 hour to do a £9 house but you make £100 per hour???
my maths says that's £9 per hour

Should have clarified the term house. I call them houses but they are 4 flats in one building so I make £36 if I clean the whole building. They are built next to each other so you can clean 8 flats going up one path. Don't need to move the van and you can clean them fast if you don't talk to the customers. I'm going to a tenner minimum per clean in the future so it's nice and simple and don't need to hand out any change bar notes.

Only reason I can clean them fast is because I have the van system which is the best thing I have ever invested in.

Educate me Michael.

I don't understand how a rich customer who lives in an ex-council flat can't afford £8 a clean and then has to move in with elderly parents.
It's a game of three halves!

‘Rich’ and ‘ex council’ don’t belong in the same sentence.
