New customers who were old customers
« on: March 15, 2025, 02:36:08 pm »
I just received an email from a customer I used to clean for 6 months ago. He now wants me to clean his new place and I clean round the corner from it. I think he must have went with the windy who was already cleaning the new house or in the area. That's the second customer who has moved to a new estate and took me with them and another is moving in May and I have the job as its in the next street.

Finding out its all about building relationships but I'm now going to tell customers who are moving to get in touch because I may be able to continue cleaning their new house.

You should start a consultancy Michael.
We look at them, they look through them.

Thanks, what I'm getting at is building relationships with our customers. Once the bridge is built then they want to hold on to oneself if you provide a good service. Its took me many years in this game to realise this but it works.

How many years have you been in this game?

Unless I'm already in the street, I tell them I don't that street and to ask the neighbours who they get and they will do them, if by some miracle they have moved into a street that doesn't have a window cleaner then by all means give me a call.  I explain that for me going into a street for 1 is going to mean there paying way over the odds, as it's time consuming.

Over 6 years now. With wfp, I can't believe how good this job is. Out 4 hours yesterday doing bi-monthlies and I took in £220. What other job can bring in good money with not much outlay. Even talking to some of my customers and got asked to add another 2 customers to my list. Once established the work comes to me rather than me looking for new work. Don't want to take anyone on so going to keep my client list tight and drop hard stuff. Got a full week this week so just going to start earlier.

I couldn't have achieved this without the help of free forums where I received all my knowledge. 👍

Understandable but what happens if its a new built estate? Up here we have many new estates opening up and they are close together because a massive hospital has closed and is divided up for new housing. There will be about a thousand new houses once finished. Then we have a massive chemical company flattened for new housing meaning another 600 new housing. When you get one clean then you usually pick up another and it just grows. When folk buy a new home then they usually want to keep it clean and that's where we come in to help them achieve it.

Until they realise they can't afford the mortgage, two new cars.... and get rid of the window cleaner to save money.

This can be a bit stressful cancelling the window cleaner because immediately the neighbours know something is up. People can be quite proud and binning the window cleaner doesn't save that much. Usually they run with one car and buy a bike which saves a fair bit, that's what I have noticed.

Do you live and work in a ex mining town or something? I havnt got a single customer who rides a bike because they can’t afford a car.
