so im cleaning a house today  a lady comes along and says are you a window cleaner (pole in hand hose reel visible }
i said yes i m a window cleaner !!
great she says ! im looking for a window cleaner,are you able to come on a certain day ? i say no ,reason being im covering all work in this area it may be on a monday it may also be on a friday depending on weather and work load but i really try to come on a six weekly basis ,she says ok a weekend also works for me ! im really struggling to find a window cleaner to come  on certain days i say you probably wont find one that will come when it suits you !
the moral of the story is if i said i will come on whatever day you want your £18 house will be £40 she would say to expensive as we all know !
why do people think that we are desperate and will come and there beck and call ?
whilst we work in the cleaning industry we are not peasants and are not on the bottom of the food chain but in my opionion thats how the general public look at us .
just my opinon but realley pixxes me off

Yep, I remember the day I had a customer text me to say she can't have windows done today as she had a friend over and doesn't want me there.

She then text a week later saying please come tomorrow.  I said no, as I would be working in a completely different area.   The customer turned really rude in her reply and said my service was poor and unreliable.   I did text back to ask if she could tell me how someone could be in two places at once 🤣

Funny thing is, her husband is self employed working in home improvements.   She should have know better.

I find its not just customers but my mates aswell. They ask me to help them next week and I say I'm cleaning windows and they reply you can drop them for a few days. They don't think its not a real job, they think its just a hobby. Okay it was for me at the beginning but not now, I had a full day today and made nearly a weekly take home pay for someone on minimum wage. Its hard going but the money is there if you want to work hard and do full days it quickly builds up.

If you keep telling them about how many odd jobs your doing like you do on here then they're going to think your  window cleaning is "put offable" arnt they.

The average person just doesn't have a clue. It's as though we are a charity sometimes.

I was once asked if I would deliver all a customer's Christmas cards on the estate we worked on to save postage costs. It won't take you long. Another time she asked us to clean all her inside windows one at a time when we were passing. As it wouldn't take long each time, we didn't need to charge her.

You have ladders; can you stick the trim back that has fallen from the fascia on the side of the house?

I never get annoyed by people being disparaging about this work. Actually I welcome it.

The more people look down on window cleaning, the fewer will try to do it. So there’ll always be a shortage of window cleaners, and hence higher prices.

If people think it’s not a real job/business, just a mess about etc, I just smile and am silently grateful.

Imagine if Joe Public knew what a great thing it is! Everyone would be at it,
