3 complaints...sparkly dust!!!
« on: February 17, 2025, 05:28:05 pm »
Had 3 complaints today.....

All houses are next to each other and they all said the glass had dust on them the day after the last clean that sparkled in the low sun.....

It was cloudy this morning and I couldn't see anything on the windows. They said you can only see it from the inside on a sunny day. The sun came out this afternoon so I went back to check and all windows were fine.Any work I've cleaned in the sun this afternoon are fine too....

I'm absolutely stumped as to what it could be! It's only these 3 houses that seem to be affected!

Any ideas?

Could it be very tiny bits of resin in my water? I can't think of what else it could be. Even worse than that I can't see anything on the glass and neither can the customers. It ONLY shows up on a sunny day and only from the inside?🙄

I've never, ever had this in 15 years of WFP. Usually if I've had complaints I can see what it is straight away(eg spotting, runs, etc)or 9 times out of 10 it's on the inside glass or the glass is blown.

Called back to one today, looked like it hadnt been cleaned apparently....

There was nothing wrong with it apart from it being covered in black paint spots  ::)roll

One of these complaining customers messaged me today to say the windows are fine now and said she thinks she remembers some workmen digging up the road not long after I cleaned them last month!

I had one window that I kept getting complaints about after I had cleaned it. So I put ladder up and saw it was inside the unit. I told her the reason you can see it is because after I have cleaned the outside pane it becomes more visible. After a year of this I asked how old the window was? 40 years old and I said you need a new window or glass unit and I can do the job if you want it done. No more complaints.

You must have some very posh roads round your way, our workmen just create run of the mill dirty dust, not nice "sparkly dust".

Another thing that can leave sparkly dust or salt is when I use my trolly for softwashing. I use the same trolly for window cleaning so the first clean gets some softwash that's let in the hose if I've never rinsed it out. Did one in sheltered housing complex and it was at the furthest point and a bit of a headache to get to. So cleaned with trolly and then realised some hypo still in hose so just cleaned a tad longer thinking the glass will sparkle. Next month she came down and paid me for last month and told me she will clean them herself. Great I thought as it saves me a lot of time.
In the end most of my customers have died, younger fit folk moving in and they have changed the windows to tilt and turn so not worth doing it. Will drag out a tad longer and finally hand over or say I have retired.

I think I've found out where the sparkly dust has come from. Some of my customers (on the estate I've been cleaning all week) has loads of it on their glass roofs so I know it's nothing to do with me or my water. There is a  building site just down the road building loads of new homes. I reckon it's come from there blown in on the wind.👍

I bet it’s insulation then, Rockwool or fibreglass.
