Each to there own i suppose, my reel has never given me any problems whatsoever.  Anything that makes your working day that bit easier is worth the money.

Say the reel is £800, they reckon you should get 10 years out of 1.  Let's just say its 8 years. It works out around £2 a week. It's a no brainer.

What's crazy is not using reinforced pole hose on your reel.

I use cheap Claber reels with 45m of pole hose and 55m of microbore.

Light and easy. Can carry 40m of pole hose in one hand around cars, bins and corners.

I worked with my son in law who is half my age and he is lugging microbore like a lot of you guys do.

Do you have a link to this pole hose Malc? I'm getting really hacked off with the rock-hard microbore that's currently on the market!! Spending more time managing hose than cleaning windows sometimes!!🤔

I think some people here are getting a bit confused. Micro bore/ mini bore ..whatever is your reel hose. And what we all know as 'pole hose' is that small thin flexy stuff, some stiffer than others and some use PVU or summat, i don't know i've never tried it. I think Malc is referring to Gardiners reinforced pole hose. I use the same stuff.

You can still use your normal 'pole hose' and use this as a lighter reel hose. I should point out that Gardiner don't recommend it for that nor warrant it for that but it does work very well for that

Looks similar. But I bought mine from Soap National. Extreme reinforced pole hose.

It's the same principle. Lighter stuff means less wear and tear on you body.

Why would you manually be reeling in a hose ?.  Unless someone's just starting out and setting up on a budget, then there's absolutely no reason at all for anyone to be manually reeling in a hose.

People must be off there heads manually doing it when there's a tool that does it for you.

We tried electric reels. Waterworks ones. Plastic crap. Forever breaking and too slow. The lads we gave them to asked for them to be replaced with proper reels.

We only use Cox reels now.

I wouldn’t want my Waterworks reel to to reel in any quicker than it does. As for breaking, it’s broke once in the three years I’ve had it, I can live with that.

It's the same principle. Lighter stuff means less wear and tear on you body.

Whatever works for you, I think your just over complicating things for nothing....I guarantee the vast amount of people will be running 100m of microbore/minibore with just normal pole hose

Mine does lay flat. But that's because it's reinforced pole hose.

However have I managed for over 5 years doing this? If only someone who hadn't done it could put up reasons why I can't.

Maybe someone else can tell me I can't lift my reel out and point it in any direction, wherever I park. It must be too cheap, too heavy, too unprofessional, too light - too something plucked out of my derriere because I haven't tried it.

You have answered your own question 😂 it’s cheap and nasty stuff used it years ago , now use daqua s microbore that lays  flat and is good hose .

I'm using some of that stuff and it's kinking. It's even worse in the cold weather. I won't be buying it again.

Me neither. I've had it a year now and it gets worse with age! Apparently Daqua sells the same hose that Gardiners used to. That stuff was great.
