I found out when the renewal price had gone up and i phoned (as you do) to see if i could haggle and when they looked into it said they couldn't cover me anymore! yet if id just renewed on line they would have happily took my money and i may well have been left in the lerch if id brokendown.

The trick is every time you renew your commercial van insurance take out the breakdown cover add on at the same time. It's usually only an extra £60 or so.

Do this every year!
price higher/work harder!

They must be changing them slowly then.  They made it clear on the new renewal and terms that they no longer cover and vehicles that are used for making money.

Vans are still covered if being used for personal use.

They said to call them for a personalised quote to cover commercial use.

I renewed mine mid  December when the insurance was due on them, been with green flag for  years , and it states commercial vehicles they know it’s business use only but will give them a call tomorrow to double check .

Same with me, been with them many years and all was fine until now.  You should be fine until your next renewal though, but let us know how your call goes.  Best of luck buddy.

Phoned green flag today and business cover is included and has always been with my vans I think what has been happening with many is they have a van for there only vehicle and it’s not been used for business so they have had different cover , some that use there vans for business haven’t declared this so they have been given private cover rather than business use , one of the questions they asked me when I first took out my cover with them was is the van sign written  when I said yes then they asked more questions, if the van wasn’t sign written I don’t think they would have asked them . I think this is ware the confusion has come from .

Any confusion was purely at their end. Was with them for years , all questions answered completely honestly, and when cover was stopped no alternative "commercial cover offered".  It either wasn't being offered then or their staff need retraining. Pleased you got yours sorted Splash and have peace of mind. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole now. Hope you get sorted Jester, im with Liverpool Victoria now, good cover wise and fairly cheap but havn't had to use them yet.
