Still -6 here! Just getting ready to defrost my car to do a food shop then long walk with the dog this afternoon....

Looks like the weather could stay cold enough to stop the ice and snow from melting until monday or tuesday next week according to the forecast

Worked 4 days this week.

-5 the coldest, 0 degrees the warmest.

It’s not been fun, and I haven’t got the full weeks work done, but the grippa hot water system has paid for itself again.  🔥

Boarded up flat across the street 🙈 Is that the local drug dealer Daz? I bet you can’t wait to move over this way, out of the Manchester area.

It's fine. I've lived here for 25 years....the boarded up flat across the road has been like that for a year now .the crackhead who used to live there is in a secure mental hospital for his own and the publics safety. The smackhead who lived next door to me died of an overdose at 47 years of age a few months ago so it's nice and quiet round here now!🙂👍

I used to work with his dad many years ago when I had a proper job. He disowned his son a long time ago. He was a crackhead. He used to be smoking it 24/7. He looked worse than a homeless person and his flat was a total mess....he's finally been locked up in a mental hospital......very sad really...

im not offended by the term crack head..... but behind these addicts is a story. often very sad .
my daughter got into bad company at the age of 14.....  around the time me and her mother seperated.
it started with alcohol and weed and progressed to coke . then in 2022 at the age of 22 she did crack and within months was in serious trouble .
I am talking  about  deaths door trouble .
in october 2022  she asked for help... but there is no help unless you are very lucky or in a good post code....
She agreed to go into private rehab, so I found a place for her and managed to get her in .....

this cost £7000 a month.
but it broke the cycle ....
she has relapsed many times since , but the rehab gave her the tools , and the belief that if she keeps on trying she can get well .

she is doing ok now .
what a horrendous thing to go through....

It must also have been incredibly stressful for you, i think you feel your kids problems more than your own in life.

Totally agree. My son is off to Australia in a week for a year. We wouldn't mind following his phone just in case anything happens to him. No such luck, he knows best. Guess we have to sit here and pray.

yes ... how foolish of us... we never thought of going to a doctor, or  a mental health team.
her probation officer .
we didnt try every avenue possible over the years..... we didnt spend hours researching, and we didnt spend years trying everything we could .   we never thought of trying to get her sectioned
we just blindly decided to pay privately.

sorry daz , but you have just shown how little you know.....
of course..... a person needs to want to change.....but there is not much help out there for someone who  is at that level of addiction.

There's a place opening up near me called phoenix futures. It's for drying out etc, not sure if it's free or not but by the looks of it, it'll be expensive.

There was quite the kerfuffle, meetings in the village hall watch all the nimbys kicking up a fuss.

Thankfully it's gone ahead, they couldn't block the planning due to there being no change of use - it was previously an old folks home.

How little you know about me....I've worked with alcoholics and drug addicts for many years and ran an AA meeting in Warrington town centre for 8 years.Maybe it's regional but there is lots of help from sober and clean alcoholics and addicts all across the North west. There's literally hundreds of meetings every week and it's all free help. I do understand you can't help people who don't want to be helped but the help is there.....

I could never afford rehab because I was skint but you can get home detox and medication off the doctor which is what I did...

AA is a fantastic organisation and it saved my life
