« on: January 02, 2025, 10:21:44 pm »
Seen 2 window cleaners out today while doing a few tip runs.Glad I wasn't  working as it was really icy here due to all the rain we ve had.

Snow forecast for us in the North West on Saturday night going into Sunday just in time for my return to work on Monday morning.

Happy new year chaps!😎👍

P.s. get those heaters on overnight in the back of your vans lads!

I worked today. Immersion assisted enormously. First job was a commercial with an hour's trad doing insides but out wfp'ing by 9.30.

Probably start wfp at 9.30 tomorrow too.

I do a day of commercial on 30/12, then have done a school this morning. Back to it fully from Monday. Temps were -2° overnight but it started raining at 7am and warmed up nicely ready for a 8:30am start. Days are getting longer, soon be spring 😀

Has the TARDIS got WFP then?

The weather is strange here. It was -4 at 5am this morning and then 2c a few hours later. I put an oil filled radiator in the back of my van to be on the safe side.

Just been doing my normal friday errands/jobs today. Food shop done and washing/housework done. Just finished my tax return too. Only took an hour. Gonna clean my own windows now and clean the neighbours too. The new neighbours are fantastic. They even came round on xmas eve with a card and bottle of Baileys! Which my missus has already drunk!Typical! Now I'm moving soon!😄👍

Generally I don't mind the cold mornings now that I have an immersion heater set up on an additional tank that lasts me a few hours. Stops everything else freezing up in my truck overnight too.

Freezing up north at least generally means clear sky's and far less chance of rain. 👍

Well above freezing down here in Bristol. No snow like you lot up north.

I was in two minds whether to start back on on the 2nd and 3rd.  I took the plunge and got my motivation boots on and got stuck in for both days.  I'm glad I did, as this week looks worse by the looks of things.  So won't feel guilty about taking the coldest day off this week.  😂

Bit of a nightmare up here. Don't think the weather forecasters know what's going on because they said it would be 1 or maybe 2 degrees below and it ended up minus 9 last Thursday morning. I'm taking the week off as I have inside work to do but next week I will be busy and have called my nephew to give me a hand. Hot water is handy for cleaning the windscreen before I set off.

I would be very cautious putting hot water on a frozen windscreen.

-9? Where are you based in Scotland? Worst we’ve had here is -3.

Even I've had to admit defeat this week. I've written the whole week off as its forecast minus temperatures for the next 3 nights and there's a lot of lying snow and water lying around here.

I struggled to get out of my close this morning and the side roads are a nightmare. It's just not worth crashing the van or getting stuck down a side road.

It's going to be very dangerous the next few mornings as it's forecast-6 overnight so all the water and impacted snow will freeze solid!
