My stipulations for moving in with missus are as follows

1.Shed exclusively for my gear so I know where my stuff is!✔️

2.own bedroom at front of house so me and the dog can get a proper night's sleep!✔️

3.dedicated drum room in side extension for uninterrupted practice/rehearsal.✔️

4.office room upstairs for my laptop/printer and new desk.✔️

5.kitchen is my domain so I get to choose decor, appliances, etc✔️

She has the garage for her stuff and large summer house in the garden(that has a lampshade making workshop on one side and a bar on the other). As she is an interior designer she needs the space in garage for cutting curtain tracks, pelmets and storing chairs/tables,etc.

She will choose all decor in the house apart from drum room, kitchen and my bedroom although she agrees with my choices!✔️👍🤣

Legally if something happens to her and she dies before me the house will be sold and a little flat will be bought for me and anything left over will be split between her 2 grown up kids then when I die the kids will get my flat.

Statistically speaking most women outlive men 10 to 1 but you never know what happens....

My missus just wants to make sure I'm not left homeless if she dies before me.👍

I think she should be grateful that you allow her to live with you.

Any money I have saved up  will NOT be used to buy a property with.we ve already discussed that. I'll be living on that (and my small state pension).

She's nearly paid off her mortgage now.just over 2 years left.Of course I will be contributing to it over  the next few years.

A lot of me, me, me in this thread Daz.

Have you had a solicitor draw up a contract to stipulate your terms? It must have been very complicated to do this with her house being mortgaged?

A lot of me me me?It's a big decision to move in with someone when you ve lived on your own for 25 years so you have to put down practical rules and stipulations before the big move or it's not going to work out.

Another one is no joint accounts. We will keep our bank accounts separate.she has 5 and I have 5.

We will both sort out our wills when I move in and power of attorney. Once the mortgage is paid off we will sort out the rest.

Exciting times!😎👍

Of course compromises. We work well together most of the time. Luckily she loves music and drums and has her own interests(rollerskating and dancing). She can't wait for me to move in finally after all these years. The dog will be even happier!😄👍

Phase 5. Remind her and her neighbours just how lucky they are!😉🤣🤣

The neighbours are OK. In fact they are terrific! When most of your neighbours have been crack, smack addicts, drinking alcoholics and drug dealers the ones near my missus house seem unbelievably dull and normal compared to round here.

A lovely, professional, polite, chinese family live next door and  some geeky, scientific family on the other. We even have a local Facebook group for the close. My drum room is part of a single storey extension on the side of the house (with no property beyond that) so it has a thick, outer, original wall and I'm installing wood panelling on the wall the acoustic kit faces.

Most of the time I'll be practicing/recording/playing along to music with headphones on using my electronic kit but of course I'll be playing my acoustic kit too occasionally and even playing music through my PA speaker but this will be mainly restricted to the odd daytime session.

My old drum teacher taught from his own house and was at a constant state or war with his neighbours because of it.  ;D, double up on your wood panelling Daz.

I'll never get a council flat again paying £91 a week rent that's for sure. I count myself very lucky to have lived here for 25 years despite all the social problems as its an area I've known all my life. It's allowed me to sort myself out financially, build my business and go on some fantastic holidays abroad especially the last 12 years or so but it's time to move on.

I'm giving my electric cooker, washing machine, fridge freezer and TV to my next neighbour free of charge. He was absolutely over the moon when I said he can have them!🙂👍
