I bought a cheap washing machine a few years ago when my old one broke. Paid £170 for it. It only lasted a year or so until the bearing collapsed l. But being tight I stripped it down and replaced the bearings. Then we ended up buying a bigger one anyway so it's in the shed. I intend to use it to wash cloths etc but it's buried and I cba .

Anyone else have any cool washing g machine stories ?

If it’s washing machine stories you want . I have a belter . Are you all ready , sit down get a cuppa and I will begin . We recently moved house . Brought our old one with us . But when we got the keys to the new place , there was already one plumbed in . I still tell this story 3 months later, gets loads of laughs down the pub . No one can believe it , but it’s true . Unbelievable.

I'm quite lucky I bought two 2kws solar panel systems on both sides of my roof meaning its 4kws in total. Then I bought the best Miele washing machine when I retired because I was Trad at the time which had a 10yr guarantee. So from March to October its on everyday. My mum burns out a washing machine in 3yrs and this is the only one she hasn't managed to break. Its been going for 14yrs now and still works well but I see it has trebled in price.
So, if anyone is thinking of a new washing machine you can get a Miele for £800 which my neighbour got and that was 10yrs ago and his is still going strong. 😉

Picking through this ...

Miele washing machines are the mutt's nuts.

We buy middle of the road dishwashers, tumble dryers and fridges.

In 2003 with three kids and a trad. window cleaning round bought a Miele Washing Machine. Replaced it with another Miele in 2020 just before lockdown.

Now the kids have left home I reckon it will see me out!

I got a Zanussi washing machine and it has been going for 29 years, same age as my fridge freezer which is also Zanussi.

The one before the Miele of 2002 was a Zanussi bought in 1985. I put new bearings in that. By 2002 I reckoned Zanussi wasn't what it used to be and went Miele.

Cheap microfibres. Dishcloths till they get scraggy after a wash. Then they become floor cloths. Then they migrate to the van. If it rains they are wrung out. Once they have been black for a month they go in the bin.

I dont even bother with cloths when its really bad. I just reel it in and sling the pole in the back. Usually end up with my clothes blathered in muck, wet feet, wet hands. Just get on with it and clean the van out properly once the weather improves. ping in the wind trying to keep things clean this time of year, i only wash my van every couple of weeks its pointless soon as ive done it next day its in the same state again.

Always worth running hose through cloth/towel. Especially if running an Xtreme. Mine lasted three years before relegating it to second pole position and adding a section. Still being used now after 3.5 years.
