Not many makes have been crash tested. Luckily I have an Ionics tank in my van but insurance companies are getting ridiculous over the slightest modifications going and I fear it will only get worse, cash revenue springs to mind by these greedy insurance companies.

Here's the e mail summary.

Good Morning

Your renewal for your Commercial Vehicle, Legal Expenses is due on 2nd January 2025.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer renewal terms this year. This is because our panel of insurers are declining DIY systems that are not crash tested.

Please find below the crash tested systems that are accepted:

Ionic Systems / Pure2o – Crash tested to FMVSS-208 Certification

Brodex – Crash tested to Mira Standard

Purefreedom – Crash tested to Mira Standard

Streamline – Smartank only Crash tested to Mira Standard

Grippatank – Crash tested to Mira Standard

The Cleaning Warehouse – Crash tested to Mira Standard

If we can be of any assistance with any further insurance such as household, liability or if you acquire one of the above systems please get in contact.

If you have any questions regarding this, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

To discuss this further, or if you have any additional queries, please don't hesitate to contact me on 01793 616773.

It’s a fair point.

I never mentioned a water tank when insuring my van a few years ago, had a small accident in ice, a car hit me after he’d skidded.

van went in for repairs, no one battered an eyelid, all was fine.

Yes. A-Plan are now Howdens.

Just vote with your feet and tell Alexander Swan goodbye.

However check out the other thread which I shall resurrect and modify the title...

It's a game of three halves!

Gladiator have been excellent for many years and seem to know what they're doing.
Although I am using a pick up which seems a lot less controversial - now at least.

Yes, ask for the Carterton branch who do our 'van with tank insurance', their a broker and shop around for you every renewal. They found me a better price this year by switching insurer. Used them for years, and have a few different policy's with them. Good luck.

They asked.......they said it's definitely classed as a modification......not worth the risk lying.

One quote on Comparethemeerkat after declaring an unspecified modification,,,,,,,,£509......includes speeding conviction and 50/50 slight accident............Zego but it's a telematics policy....think that's the word....you have to have their app on your phone and turned on when driving,

That's the reason I went with Grippatank. I believe all insurance companies will follow suit. Hope you get
it sorted or you will be off the road.
