Hi Ian, I have done the things you suggested. All wiring seems to be fine. Started back to work this morning using cold water, I done the auto calibration, this came in at a desired calibration setting of 6 which I think is low and leaves very little room to re-calibrate should I use hot water. The pump worked fine for about half an hour and then the PS error came up and water flow stopped.
Does this sound like the pump is the problem? I think the pump is about 3 years old.

Auto cal value of 6 is very low, and lower than I would expect even when using hot water. In affect the controller is looking at current draw by the pump when working on auto cal. A value of 6 suggests the pump is drawing very little current. Potentially ths could be due to wear in the pump motor brushes.

Im surprised that the PS message is showing at all, with the hoses being warm and soft there wont be a lot of pressure in the system. You will however see good flow volumes  at a lowish flow setting on the controller.

As the pump seems to be ok for approx 30 minutes then starts to play up this also could point to ward wear in the motor brushes as they heat. It could also be that the armature is sticking in the motor coil if this is degrading. The controller would see that as a wiring issue and report PS 

I tend to agree at this point changing the pump is the next step

Hi Ian, thank you for the detailed reply.
Just to clarify I was using cold water today so hose wouldn’t have been warm when PS error code appeared. I always run my pump flat out so wouldn’t be aware or different flow rates with a low calibration.
I will order a new pump like for like,  it was the vyair facelift pump I was using

The V16 is capable of driving out at 12 amps, The pump max rating is 9a

Potentially the controller will drive the pump to its maximum output at a flow of around 70. beyond that the is also an issue of hose capacity where the pump is trying to push more water into the hose than it can cope with. That could see  the pump pressure switch activate.

However as the calibration is coming up so low that leans more toward a pump motor issue

Sorry to ask another Q to Ian, my friend has a P.F Reelmaster as do i, and he connected it up the wrong way around (dick ) and blew it. How much do spring charge for a fix on that? Thanks m

This is the latest (v16?) controller.
A friend of mine had a 'freak' issue where a faulty hozelock connector on the hose which connects to his reel gave him the exact same symptoms as you describe here. Took ages to trace it!!🤪
Pumps last for years usually.

Pump was goosed! New pump now running at calibration of 40 with cold and 34 with warm. I think I wore out the old pump prematurely by not keeping my eye on the calibration when changing from cold to warm water. Using an immersion I find that even when using warm water you are initially drawing colder water through the pump and reel and it takes quite a few minutes for the warm to come through.

Morning. Sorry O have only just seen this post.
If the reverse polarity diode has shorted and the PCB is Ok repair would be from £49.95 + Vat, If the Miss wire damaged the tracks on the PCB  it may need a new PCB which would be on the £80 to £90 range
