As i use DI only i just dump some water out of the tank and fill up with hot to keep everything frost free overnight.
I dont work when it is sub zero, if the water is freezing on the glass and on the floor i sack it off .

No problems with hot water. In fact I've been defrosting skylights and window sills all day!😄

I arrived at my first job to find one of my customers frantically trying to scrape the ice off her car so I defrosted the whole car within a minute! She was so happy and grateful!👍

I wouldn't dare put my brush on a custys car, i cleaned my lads car and found scratch marks on the roof. Dont care about my own vehicles but plenty of people are very precious about theirs.

Frost protection on PF heater only protects heater, not the rest of your kit in van.

Not on the Grippatank hot water setup.  It works a treat for me.  It circulates hot water through the hoses and back to the tank.   When water temp drops to 2 degrees it kicks in for 5 mins. 

Keeps everything fully defrosted.

My immersion heater keeps everything supple and ice free.

Open the back doors of the van first thing and I feel like warmth from 400 plus litres of water.

No I don't use it because I don't like disturbing neighbours with it as it will fire up  3 or 4 times on a cold night. It's loud in the middle of the night...

I've had neighbours knocking on my door at 3am before now thinking there was something wrong with my van!🤣🤣

I have a pure freedom ro van mounted system,I made a box to push on front of system,put a duvet Ofer system and box and then put a 500w oil filled rad in box on a low setting,hose reel goes in garage,pole goes in cab so can warm up on way to first job,that’s worked for me for 16 winters,when it’s really cold I have to use a hair dryer on external pump port to make sure I’ve got flowing water when I leave for first job

I would go for a mid range one with a sensitive thermostat on it .

Or a fan heater.

The sensitive thermostat is the important thing.

Also a timer.

I tried a greenhouse heater the other night. My gear was frost free but the roof of the van was frozen. I don't think it's as good as an oil filled radiator.
