Main Hose
« on: October 28, 2024, 08:24:33 pm »
Evening gents,
I thought I would ask as my main 6mm hose needs replacing.
Is there any difference between websites that sell them quality wise.

Cheers

I would expect that quality differences would be true as suppliers buy their product from different manufacturers. Not all the same manufacturers hose batches would be identical.

The first lot of hose we got was minibore from a business in Scotland called Cleantek.
We still have some on a hose reel in my garage. It is as stiff as a length of round bar. Hard to use in summer and nearly impossible to use in winter.

We have heard some not so good reports of some hose being sold on eBay by Circuit Hydraulics. Then again wcw received complaints of some hose they sold splitting, as did PureFreedom.

We have only ever purchased hose from Gardiners during the time they sold it. We did have a roll of minibore from them that was awful. It swelled a lot. We were cold water back then.

I brought another roll of minibore and microbore from Gardiners and they have served us well. Daqua are selling the same hose.

Others say that the hose from wcw is brilliant, so I guess some batches are better than others.

The windie who put up photos of his split hose was told to send it back. The company would then send it into their supplier for an assessment. If the manufacturer admitted the hose was faulty, then pf would refund the amount paid.

I understood their reasons for suggesting this process, but it didn't help the window cleaner.
So what I'm saying is that after sales service is also important when buying products.
Not every product failure can be determined to be the result of faulty materials or workmanship. In a case like this, it could be a claim settled on a goodwill basis.

Do not buy the hose from circuit hydraulics on ebay- it's horrendous!!
If Daqua are selling the same hose that Gardiners did then that would be the best option.

I agree.
I've bought some brass hose fittings from this company many years ago and they were fine.

I did notice that a roll of hose they were selling was cheaper than any of the wfp suppliers. I did wonder at the time how many window cleaners would be tempted to buy from them on price.

Circuit Hydraulics also had hose in different colours which could also attract buyers.

One of the local lads has hose on his reels purchased from PureFreedom and it has lasted him well.

Nothing wrong with circuit hydraulics hose

brought over a dozen coils over the last 12 years - 8 of these for vans - 4 for replacements - most hoses are still going strong 12 years on - those that have failed is due to staff and or being crushed by lorries
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

I bought a 100ms to, barely lasted a year, nice to work with until it springs leaks.
Never again.
I've got wcw now and it's fine.

Hi smudger you put me on to circuit  hydraulics and many thanks for that much appreciated.
There small bore I think it’s 5 mm internal I’ve used it for several years with a cold water system. And it works well for me I buy 100 length  when the first 50 / 60 m starts to look tired as in snagging on brickwork and caught under gates and me keep tugging on it normally lasts a year then I turn it around for the next year so for £50 ish I get a hose that’s lasts two years no brainier ! I assume if I used a hot water system it would have lasted longer as it would be more supple etc, no complaints from me,dazmond put the idea into my head many years about going smaller , as I was using the heavey 8mm  internal ,it’s funny because size does matter and contrary what ladies would say smaller is better

Ive used circuit hydraulics for years, must have had a least half a dozen hoses from them. Never had a problem with it but then again ive nothing to compare it to.

The one i have on my reel now has been on there over 2 years and it doesnt show any signs of failure.

The 6mm microbore I got from GrippaTank is good,  it's the hot water one though.
