The Webasto heater is nearly 2 grand now and once you throw in electric reels it must be near 3 grand. When I began window cleaning I realise alot of windies are penny wise pound foolish. If you save up and manage to pay cash you get a great feeling to get out their and start earning good money. Getting two new tyres fitted tomorrow, £90 each plus tip so £200 cash. Old pals and been going there for decades. Handy to have pals in the motor trade to keep the van going. Heard some scary stories about folk getting their cars fixed and before they get home they are heading back to the garage. I don't think some of these places are test driving before the customer comes to collect it.

No money in it but there's money taking away the old worn tyres. Anyhow, need another tyre I just found out. Out tomorrow with the hotwater system ready to go again which is like a holiday compared to what I've been working on. 😉

Of course there's money in it. The local tyre place near me is always busy. With the amount of vehicles on the road they have a constant stream of work

How is it the tyre fitters are always moaning when you go in to get new tyres? They never seem to have enough time. I much prefer to drop the wheel off and come back a few days later to pick it up which seems to bring a bit of happiness to their day.

That's because you are doing part of their job for them, and they are still charging you the same.

I'm shocked at the price of tyres. Nearly 4 years ago I replaced 5 of my van's tyres with Pirelli Carriers.  They cost me £85 each, including VAT, fitted and balanced.
I needed to replace 2 tyres this year. I thought I would put the best of the two tyres needing replacement as the spare; the spare would be one tyre and I would order a new Pirelli Carrier to replace the other worn tyre. The cheapest Pirelli Carrier was £180. I ended up buying 2 x Maxxis tyres with have the same wet grip level and road noise DB as the Pirelli tyres are.  They were £102.50 each. I've run them before on my first Citroën Relay, and they were fine on that.

I just buy £90 budget tyres now after years with Continental. Don't drive fast and you can still get a puncture with any tyres.
