Ah well, I've learnt something anyway.Did this happen because you didn't change the cambelt(or camchain) at the recommended interval? My missus connect has done over 80k...I think she needs to get it done Mines the same age but has only done 25kTake no notice of recommendations. Change water pump, timing belt etc on a ford connect like mine every 40,000 milesThat's what my mechanic said. I'm clueless, so I take advice

That's what I was told every time I had it serviced which was once a year every 8,000 milesUntil the timing belt slipped and caused all the damage I have nowYour choice Daz, but I know what I'm doing every 40.000 miles if I have a connect again
Mine and my missus engines have a chain not belt...👍🙂
I was told it's not the belt of chain that goes, its the idlers and pulleys. On the small Citroen/Peugeot vans that taxi drivers use were going all the time and it was a chain. There was a problem with them and it cost the manufacturer a fortune fixing them under warranty. In the end, we are better looking after our vans because its our livelihood.
If it’s chain i would be changing it before 100k miles just for peace of mind sprockets can chip teeth and wear I personally wouldn’t take any advice from ford main dealer
Vauxhall missed solid me a full service when it was due interim even after I questioned it saying it was full serviced last time someone I no had a Peugeot and they said it needed new brake pads and discs he questioned it saying hardly drove the car took it to a independent garage and they checked it saying there absolutely fine
UpdateGetting van tommorowNew cam and timing kit (water pump etc) plus labourTotal £1730.00🙄Ah well I'm back on the road
