Severn Trent water have just informed me they will be fitting a water metre. Does anyone know if I can appeal this decision?
Does anybody know how much it will costs to fill a1000 l tank?

I doubt you can appeal - cost is approx £1.75 per 1000 Litres

if your wfp and use a lot of water install a second meter that feeds the RO - you will only then be charged for water in and not sewerage for this usage

Yorkshire Water last I looked was £2.95 per 1000 litres all in.
Since I got my Ro nearly 2 years ago my water bill has doubled...am on a water meter.
Summer of 2022 TDS went from 80 to about 220 so had to be a Ro instead of double Di....in October of same year the TDS went back down to 80/90 where it still is.
Spent about £1600 on Ro and booster pump etc.

Looks like the thin end of the wedge because all water companies are looking at ways to increase money. Might be good to look into rain water harvesting due to the low tds reading.

In our area, using an RO, about a fiver (with a meter fitted so we don't pay sewage charges.)

Not a bad input cost for about three day's work. Not worth sweating about.

I think  if that were the case then when anyone got flooded they would be suing the water board ?

A water metre? Can’t fathom that out. Do you pay by the yard? I think you can meter a metre of water though. I’m off to see the wife, I told her I’d meet her outside Wetherspoons. I’m veggie though not a meateater

Fit your own meter before your ro unit or di supply. Only about £30 to buy. I contact the water company at the end of my tax year and let them work it out. Save the screenshot and add it to my expenses for my accountant.

I couldn't be arsed with that....I'm DI only so will be putting another 5 resin bags through the books per year roughly (as tap water is 125 instead of 025).a small price rise on some of my work with cover the extra cost.😎👍

To the original poster, don’t forget for every 1000l you produce with an RO unit you probably send more down the drain.
House and business combined was over £25 a week for me as a single operator not working particularly hard 🙂

i got south west water to fit a external meter cant remember how much it was but no sewage charge
