I haven't really made any resolutions, but I know what I would like to work towards this year:
I'm coming up 60, so I would like to make life easier; ideally 4 days a week.
I want to get out leafletting (yes really) and swap those big detached houses for loads of small 2 bed bungalows, small houses or flats.
I've also been focusing on another income stream that uses your brain, rather than physical effort, and I would like to focus a bit more on that.
Personally, I've not had the best of years this year, so I see the New Year as a fresh 'starting point';
an opportunity to focus on the future, rather than reflect upon the past.
Happy New Year to you all.

Wishing you well with this Robbo  8)

Thank you, you too.

Mine is to drastically change my diet.

I’m cutting out all processed food.

All added sugar.

And cutting out all the junk I eat in the evenings.

I look very healthy, but I don’t feel it due to eating pretty well, but, and here’s the but, gorging on chocolate, crisps, cakes etc in the evenings. If I keep eating the junk, I’ll end up pre diabetic.

It’s why I hate Christmas so much. The crap we eat is obscene. Never understood the reasoning behind why sugar, chocolate and alcohol has to be consumed.
I’ve started binning some of the sickly presents relatives think I should be eating!

Don't drastically change your diet...

Just start with small things like not taking sugar in your tea and coffee and not buying UPF in the first place.

Eat real food

Fish
Meat
Greek yoghurt
Cheese
Oats
Potatoes
Rice
Various fruit and vegetables,etc

If you have lots of xmas food left over put it away out of sight and just eat a bit say once or twice a week.

You cannot avoid all UPF it's virtually impossible these days but you will feel a lot better if you cut out the majority

Drastic diets are prone to failure...

Eat that burger or pizza, chocolate or whatever but limit it to the odd occasion once or twice per week

I've just come back from food shopping and had my brunch....

Glass of kefir

Scrambled egg(5 eggs) on sour dough toast with good quality ham and spinach cooked in real butter.

That's around 1000kcal,65g protein which will keep me fuelled for the gym this afternoon...

I'll have fAge yoghurt with frozen berries after my workout with a scoop of strawberry  protein powder which will be around 400kcal,45g protein

My missus is coming round at 5pm so we re having...

Salmon fillet,new potatoes,broccoli,carrots and hollandaise sauce.thats around 600kcal,30g protein

Banana,100kcal,2 g protein

So thats only 2100kcal,142g protein for the day which means I've got 900kcal left to eat what I like(3000kcal a day is my maintenance)

We re off to a local club tonight to meet up with some of my old musician mate's and watch a band.ill be drinking diet coke so no calories consumed.

I'll be allowing myself to smoke a fat cuban cigar tonight!🙂👍

I've ate a fair bit of chocolate, mince pies and biscuits this last week or so but I've also still got my gym sessions in,took the dog for a walk and ate some good healthy meals every day.ive been less active overall (obviously due to not working).

No alcohol for me so no worries there.the leftover xmas junk food has been stored away in my cupboards out of sight to slowly go through occasionally throughout January!😄👍

The real problems with ultra processed  food is when it's the majority of what you eat day to day for years...

Couple that with lack of exercise, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, drugs(street or prescribed medication)and its a recipe for increasingly poorer health.

It's insidious and takes time,so slowly in fact a lot of us don't know its happening.we just put it down to growing older

The importance of gut health should not be underestimated.these UPFs destroy some of the billions of bacteria in our microbiom which can affect not just our digestive systems but our immune systems and general mental health...

The answer is simple EAT REAL FOOD MOST OF THE TIME

I’ve got a mate who’s been on the carnivore diet for a year now, he’s never felt better. He’s a proper athlete as well. Got to the finals of ninja warrior. That type.

I’ve started eating scrambled egg in the morning with a slice of home made bread. (we bought a bread maker)

Meat for lunch, nuts etc if needed.

Normal dinner.

Feel much better already, started it on weds.

There is a huge shift in thinking now. Animal products are good. Not all this veg oil and processed nonsense full of sugar we were all told to eat.

You’ve only got to look at the thousands of people who have been on long term keto or carnivore to see the huge benefits. With good blood tests.

Jordan Peterson being one of the early well known ones. Along with his family. Lots on YouTube etc.

If anyone it interested, do watch this very well made documentary:

I'd class keto and carnivore diets extreme too...IMO they are not healthy (or sustainable long term)...

But it's your body!do what you want!

I’m doing neither, because I’m eating a normal evening meal. Be in pasta, lasagne, pizza, rice, etc etc.

However, the evidence is very very good for those on keto/carnivore diets.

Well worth watching the documentary!

Christmas Is no different for me, my diet is terrible everyday.

Not a day goes by where I don't have lots of coffee or tea with sugar. Sugary cereals or toast with jam  etc for breakfast. Lots of white bread, zero fruit or veg. Crisps, biscuits, cake and chocolate everyday, meals are often processed as well and even when I cook its usually in oil and high salt.

I've signed up for a 2 month diet/coaching thing starting next week so will be dropping everything and eating clean.

I've done similar before, it's like quitting anything sugar is addictive and takes a few weeks for the cravings to stop but if you can get through a few weeks you find yourself turning away such foods and actually starting to like veg lol

Alright or maybe crap. Its difficult to say, i mean its how ive always eaten. I dont eat any different now to when i was 18. Even as a child although we were given veg we never ate it and hid it under the mash potato lol not really got anything to compare it to. I have been on diets before for a few days or weeks but no long term comparison.

Totally get that, I was the same for years, then in my late 20’s made some good changes. However I still ate a tonne of sugar in the evenings.

Started getting hypos, low blood sugar and feeling lightheaded in the evenings before dinner.

Realised I was probably getting near pre diabetic.

This year cutting out the crap. No more subway fir lunch every day at work. No more sugar after dinner etc etc.

One day it’ll catch up with you, best to make the change asap really.

I try and eat fresh un processed most of the time and always try and buy English produced products to support farmers & business
