Fiat Doblo start stop tech
« on: December 09, 2023, 11:14:26 am »
Hello all

And Merry Christmas
Calling all you doblo owners

I’m now the owner of a UlEZ friendly Fiat doblo multi jet professional

Pleased with the van 21 plate 26k miles
Very clean throughout

I’m trying to turn off the start stop technology (does my head in) wears out starter motor maybe 🤔

There’s a button by the handbrake that should turn it off? But doesn’t

Because there’s a speed restrictor on it too
68 mph

I believe a company has deliberately turned this start stop function to permanently on 🤔

There’s never any videos relating to your make and model 🙆🏻‍♂️

I’ve inquired to a fiat recommended garage about the speed restriction being removed £85+ vat
Wondering if start stop will be another similar bill 🤔

What are the guys called who can come and do this 🤔 auto technician’s

I have a manufacturers warranty until 30th April 2024 and got 3 years extended AA warranty

Also got return to invoice gap insurance too

The timing chain snapped on my previous 2014 plate fiat doblo multi jet 🙆🏻‍♂️
21/11/23

could of spent 2k on a recon engine and all repairs needed but decided to scrap
That felt like a situation that was dependent on luck 🍀 and not percentages

Felt updating Van best decision as I was paying £120 a month ulez

Been a very stressful period 😢

Hope you lot are having a better time of it 😁

Hope it doesn’t snow ❄️⛄️
Thanks lee

Hi Lee

If they have disabled the start/stop go back to the garage and get them to re install - as winter is here and you’ll be using a heater etc you don’t want the start stop kicking in as the battery will go flat

My jag has start stop and I hate it but if I have the heated seats or air con working it overides the start stop due to power usage

Go back to dealer and get fixed

Was it overdue a timing belt change or were you just unlucky?

Looks like it was overdue
80 k on the clock

Serviced every year and mentioned that to mechanic he said no noises it’s ok

Seen mentioned online 85k miles 100k
Last the lifetime of the van, every 5 years or 80k miles list goes on 🙆🏻‍♂️

I now have 2yr 7 mth doblo 26k miles with
5 months manufacturers warranty and 3 years continuing

It was last service’d in May this year at 21,500 miles and stamp in the book

I don’t know wether to service very soon or wait until April next just before manufactures warranty expires 🤔

Ad blue
Smudger believe you have/had doblo

No experience of ad blue business
Is there a warning light or dashboard info on miles left to an ad blue top up

Thanks

Hope you lot are having a better time of it 😁

Eight weeks my Transit Customs been at Ford and they still haven’t found out what keeps sending it into limp mode.
They’ve had the Ford South West Diagnostic specialist on it now (apparently), right ballache.

Luckily they’ve given me a courtesy van, and with the help of a few good mates I’ve managed to scrape together a temporary system in the back of it!

Fingers crossed for a Christmas miracle!
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

Thanks

Most newer vehicles tell you how long left on the add blue/oil quality etc…

Usually just scroll through the dash menu’s, will be there somewhere I’d of thought.

No ad blue no doblo

But have it on relay and new boxer - come up with alarm when requires a top up

On my dispatch it is due every 10 years or 100k miles. I had it changed a year early to be safe. Van is nearly 18 years old so will have it changed again next month with service/MOT.

Sorry to here that Don
Hope it’s resolved soon 🤞🏻

I’m sure you’ve put together a good emergency system

If you needed any pics or tips
I can send links or pics

I use a rectangle bucket with a shurflo 100 psi pump
A digital power regulator £10 eBay
A car battery
16x 25ltr water containers eBay
100 mtr hose reel
27 slx pole

All can be moved easily to another van

Which it has 😢

Good luck 🍀

Different van but I have a very recent Toyota Proace City van. With that you can turn off the stop start through the touch screen but only on the journey you are on. If I turn the ignition off and back on it defaults back to stop start.

We just top up the add blue once every couple of months so it doesn’t get that low , once the light comes on it will say xx number of miles and no re start .

That's odd. I have the new model Dispatch and I can disable the stop/start permanently on the screen.

they would have just unplugged the S/S button,

either that or the button has got stuck, due to the location of the button they get pretty dirty, if you have a proper b2b split charger then the van will only apply the stop start when both batteries are more than 80% full, no need to turn the S/S off

have the van remapped and they will remove the speed limiter

Companies had that done on fleet vans to reduce insurance costs. Lee, you might enquire if this would reduce your insurance costs.

Aren’t vans subject to lower speed limits anyway?

Yes. I'm not sure if the Fiat Doblo fits into the car derived van category or not.

At one time (prior to 2003) a Citroen Berlingo 600lx and 800lx were classed as car derived vans and were subject to the same speed limits as cars. After 2003 the facelift 800lx was a grey area as it wasn't strictly a car derived van due to its increased weight.
Governed to 68mph meant that the driver couldn't thrash the living daylights out of his van.

Certainly all medium vans and above (to 3500kg) fall into the lower speed limit category; 50 mph on single carriage roads, 60mph on dual carriage ways and 70mph on motorways.

Instructions say it has one
But no pin card supplied 🙆🏻‍♂️
