4040 question
« on: November 16, 2023, 02:49:09 pm »
Hi people Long time since I’ve been on here, I’ve just changed my 4040 membrane, done a half hour flush. Reset amounts so I’m running at 85/90psi. Now before I was getting 020 into Di vessel then obviously 000 out. But for some reason I can seem to get down from 075 on the in. I’ve had the 4040 out again there appears to be no issues all the are obvious. Anyone help?

Sometimes they take an hour or 2 to settle down

Or

It’s a cheap un and that will be the best you will get tds wise
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

Ggh

500 going in very hard water area. I’ve not got it running at 65psi and getting 028 going in just like normally to be running at 80/90psi but clearly the membrane don’t like it 😤

My tds is around 560, I just installed a new 40/40 membrane and found running the pump at 70psi gave me better results then at 80psi. I would try adjusting the waste to adjust the pump pressure.

How have you found filling times I’ve dropped it down to 65psi and getting a steady 028 now. Crazy really had a starway 4040 in before ran it at 90psi for 2 years at 020 thought was time to change it wish I never bothered.

Mine is 400tds in, and boosted to 70/80psi it comes out at 10ppm (when new) with a decent branded RO. I once tried a cheap RO and the results came out very high like you mention, lucky i got it off the bay so i could return it. I then went back to the more expensive branded R.O's and things returned to normal.

Not sure on filling times as I havent really bothered to check. My membrane was a spectrum  40/40 off e-bay and it currently gets my tds from 500-560 to about 7-8 at the moment, better then my last Axeon membrane. How long it stays like that time will tell I guess.

Out of interest, when you first put the membrane in did you put water through with just mains pressure and waste fully open and not using the booster pump? I read your not supposed to run a new membrane on full pressure at first as it can damage it, just slowly build the pressure up on them.

What make is the membrane? Is it seated the right way up? If you can, flush it for more than half an hour.

My cheapo membrane from eBay is now outputting at 004 from a 200+ input. It started at about 008 but after use it has come down.
We look at them, they look through them.
