Hi guys.

I know probably been asked before but does anyone recommend a pole hose(suitable for the univalve) that minimally kinks. I have tried loads and loads and my most recent one from WCW the black one started off great and then a day in its kinking and I’m forever trying to pull it to unkink it.

The best one I keep going back to is the gardiners reinforced but it’s not supposed to be used with a univalve (and I can see why as at times if I rest the pole down it can randomly set the univalve off and squirt water out.

Whereas any pvc univalve suitable one just kinks  like no tomorrow. Is there a pole hose out there that is the god of pole hoses?

Maybe it’s your technique- if you always rotate the pole in one direction (say clockwise) you are putting a twist/kink into the hose

I buy the pu hose from telescopik off eBay - works great for me

Have you used the red one from exceed ? I think it’s the most recent one they are supplying to use with the univalve . I’ve not had a problem with it

Gardiner’s green pu very good , as Darren says it could be you putting the twists into the hose we have never had this happen 24 years ,with 12 hose reels .

Cheers guys. I wasn’t aware technique was so important. I tend to go more up and down rather than circular. Would going circular in both directions help? Perhaps rotate clockwise and then next window anti clockwise etc?

I’ve tried the gardiners green and the other mentioned one and same problem so now definitely thinking maybe it’s my technique. Thanks for your comments

All hoses kinks, ive tried loads.

As above you add twist when you constantly turn the pole the same direction during working (probably to the right if you are right handed)

It's more rotating the pole in your hand walking between windows, round corners etc you can inadvertently put half a turn if the pole here and there. Cleaning upstairs/ground floor windows shouldn't really make it happen but sometimes patio doors can if you go down a side, upside down on bottom and back up the other (when using a swivel in particular) but just rotate pole a few times anticlockwise (if right handed) before reeling back in usually sorts it. 👍

What size reel hose do you run? If it's 6mm micorbore you could think about running a homeless set up either DIY or a shop bought setup. Saves buying pole hose. 👍

I never had pole hose issues when I used Hozelock connectors- because the turn, allowing the hose to turn and correct itself.  Switched to the exceed ones that lock in place about 3/4 years ago and had nothing but trouble since with kinking/twisting etc. 15 years without issue before!!
The exceed solved one problem but created one equally, if not worse!!

Thanks guys. Mattymarske I run a 100 metre 8mm microbore with the rectus 21 fitting going straight to my pole hose. Pure freedom set up with electric reelmaster.

Interestingly it doesn’t kink anywhere near as much if I use a reinforced type hose like the gardiners etc BUT not ideal with a univalve. I will look at trying to rotate my circular motion too both anti clockwise and clockwise.

We coil our hose up when putting our poles away.
We have found that coiling the hose up the way this guy does works and reduces kinking.

I use red hose from exceed innovations in winter when we have the boiler on. During summer I use Gardiner's green pu. I have a univalve.
With hot water I find Gardner's pu hose stretches too much for me. It works, but sometimes I have to tug on the hose several times to activate the univalve.

They don’t kink it’s the user that’s putting twists into the hose

We use Gardiner’s green pu with hot and don’t get any stretch with it at all the yellow will stretch though

Easily remedied when walking back to the van you will be able to see coils starting in the pole hose just turn the pole in the opposite direction until the coils are removed before putting the pole away.

Thank you very much for all your comments and for the video link. I shall give the coiling up ago with the half turn in between turns as advised. I do keep my hose locked into the rectus 21 connection and only disconnect at the end of the day.
