saftey mask
« on: October 03, 2023, 09:10:05 pm »
Hi Guys,
Im spraying two roofs later in the week with a biocide. Any advice on the best facemask/shield (to also cover eyes).
Ive used masks before, but often steam up, would a full plastic face shield and a mask be better?
Any advice appreciated and type used if possible.
Many thanks in advance guys

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07J2MK9B2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

I used on of these to great effect.

It's disposable but if you keep it sealed in the bag between uses it should last up to six months.

Not from DDAC, it’s not dangerous unless you start drinking it, i mean it’s not the nicest stuff on the planet, but it doesn’t pose any major risks when working outside with it, especially when diluted down with water. Just don’t touch the stuff with your bare hands.

Thanks guys for the replies, much appreciated.
Yes, i think i would rather wear a mask and other PPE than take the risk with any chemicals for sure.
Thanks again

Inhalation and absorption through the skin will still happen causing all kinds of medical issues especially if using it for prolonged periods  or regularly .

He was one of the main ones promoting biocides for softwashing he ran courses doing training and admitted on the courses that the product had given him throat cancer , which he eventually died from

I don’t know why Benz don’t wear masks then…

It would be interesting to know if that the throat cancer was definitely caused by DDAC. I’d like to know what the specialists said.

COSHH?

What do your risk assessments suggest the PPE should be?

Me?

I’ve only ever used it once, on a domestic job, don’t rate it and much prefer hypo.

As I said, I’ve never seen Benz use a mask and they are big players in it. They’ve even got videos on YouTube spraying the biocide (DDAC) and no mask in site.

On the softwahs website, there DDAC sds sheet states inhalation as precautionary risk.

It is really getting the stuff actually in your mouth/on your skin that’s the issue.

Each to their own.

Don't think he'd know what gave him throat cancer only that he had throat cancer , shame he had to go that way though
