Sub contracting to wife??
« on: September 11, 2023, 06:40:59 pm »
Hi my wife started a job and the pay was terrible, I have offered her some of my work.

She doesnt want the hassles of dealing with all the payments etc as I have a lot on GC.

Would it be feasible for me to simply sub her the work?

If so how do I go about setting this up?

Any help or advise much aappreciated

I don’t know anything about LTD, but if you were a sole trader you could switch to a partnership then it would be very straight forward.

Make her a partner in the business much easier, if you sub her your work out she would need to have her own van all her own equipment, separate insurance, separate bank account.

She was director and partner until recently.

We no longer want to work together, we want a separate working life.

She resigned etc to go a different path but money elsewhere isnt the same.

Shes buying her own van and I have all the equipment she needs, working seperatley will net us more income as I can persue other interests with more time on my hands and she can run things in her own way whilst having freedom for school runs etc.

Shes going self employed and I can just give her work but shes worried about having to set up a GC account and asking customers to switch.

I know you can't see me but trust me, I'm doing an epic rendition of the age old "speak to an accountant" dance.

Excuse me for asking the obvious, are you splitting up or staying together?  If the money's in the same marital pot, why would you need to change anything,?  Partner/director/co-owner, its all the same, the income/outgoings will be down to the company, just let her run whatever side of the window cleaning business she wants to, her way.  You do your thing and let her do hers ??
If you are splitting up well you need a lawyer and an accountant.

i think you will run into the grounds of a disguised employee if you are giving her regular work

why not just employ her ? she can still be employed by you and run her own business
