Free clean
« on: June 15, 2023, 08:04:45 pm »
Came home to a flyer from "UK windowclean" offering a free clean in the hope of keeping my custom permanently. 1st time I've come across this in this area in my 19yrs shining, just wondered as they're a national company how it's affected your business in other areas where they've canvassed?

Just get them to give you a free clean, then get rid.   That's what I would do.  ;D

Iv seen a van of theirs but never seen them actually working anywhere. From what I remember, the 1st clean is free if you sign a contract and pay for so many cleans up front

If they're not extortionate it might be worth retaining them and seeing how reliable they are?

I used to have a window cleaner :)

Yeah, they are targeting a few areas by sounds, i had one through my door last week (Norfolk area) I was so tempted to get them to do the free clean, as mine need doing!! Its a bit like the mechanic scenario at the minute - i dont want to come home and then clean my own windows, the Mrs has other ideas!! Anyway, ive kept the leaflet, but not lost anyone yet, bit desperate to expand i recon..
Cheers, Steve

They are all over near me see them all the time, based not far away. Theyve been doing the free clean offer for as long as ive been window cleaning and it obviously works. Always heard they are expensive as well so doing something right.

This made me smile.  :)

In the mid 70's I worked for a motor dealership in the parts dept. We had a husband and wife couple who also worked in the garage, she worked in the parts dept and he was a mechanic.

She complained on numerous occasions that her car wasn't running properly, but he was always too tired to service it.

One day on the way into work, her car broke down and she had to abandon it and catch a lift in.

So she went into the workshop reception and had a job card made to retrieve the car (we had our own brake down lorry,) and get the car repaired. They took husband off the tractor he was working on and gave him the job of recovering the car, fixing and servicing it. Then charged him the going rate per hour for repairing his own car, and the recovery service wasn't cheap either.

Never forgot that.

Never lost a customer  ;)
