Ford = Fixed or Repaired Daily , there are always good and bad vehicles with all manufacturers but a friend of mine bought a custom the all singing all dancing  combi paid over 50k  for it , it’s ok but certainly nothing special vans by other manufacturers have exactly the same kit on them except the  leather for 15+ K cheaper and are more reliable. I had one for  a test drive for 24 hours found it very noisy, choppy ride Evan with a bit of weight in the back , seat squabs to short not supporting your thighs , was very disappointed with it , ended up buying a MAN TGE and a Toyota pro ace both were far superior to the custom and considerably cheaper with all the same kit except leather , and the Toyota comes with a 10 year warranty.

The 2.2 bulletproof euro 5.5 engine can be considered noisy, but at the end of the day it’s a van and noise decibels would be way down on my list of priorities. I would also disagree that the 2.0 euro 6 engine is noisy.  Brave man to say that the Toyota pro ace ( rebadged Vivaro/ Trafic/ Primastar ) is a far superior van to the Custom……but I suppose it’s all about opinions. Also there isn’t a 15+k difference on like for like models, when you mention leather that would be a Custom Sport model, the Limited and Trend are considerably cheaper. Then take into account the residuals…..there is a reason why the Custom is the most popular van out there😉

Not true, my transit custom is a 63 plate with no rust, never had a problem in 125,000 miles, not one single issue other than the usual maintenance.

I wouldn’t want a wet belt though, if I did I’d have the belt changed every 3-4 years, not worth the risk.

As per usual I can’t see any connection in the example you’ve given, it makes no sense whatsoever. Aldi is known as a lower budget chain of supermarkets, Transit Custom certainly can’t be described as low budget.

Yeah not for nearly 15 years though lol apart from re gassin it’s been working like new all that time,I had a Custom for a week on insurance I hated the thing it was like driving a boat the doors and interior  etc felt as cheap as chips.

You have a point. Was on my own this week as my lad was sick for 3 days and only did about 500 litres. Maybe a 600 is the way to go just to be safe on first clean days.

When a couple of experienced mechanics tell you don’t buy the new Transporter and certainly don’t buy a Custom because they are 💩 you would be stupid not to listen,buying a decent van is not as easy as it used to be cheap  and almost fake leather and stripes down the bonnet don’t sell it to me lol,I like the way the stripes on the back door of the Custom sport Makes it look  like a normal internal house door 🤣🤣

The difference in price between my MAN TGE and the custom is  more than 15k difference and the MAN has everything the the custom does  except leather .
The pro ace is a very good van and far quieter and far more  economical than the custom , the custom is typical ford with the boy racer looks and image , big wheels and low profile tyres are of for  looks but not practical for our work carrying weight ,each to there own ime not saying they are a bad van but feel for  a work vehicle there are far better and cheaper options out there .

yeh you wont need 800 for one man surely

i have a 650 use on average 450-500 on my own and i work with full flow and a univalve that doesnt shut off very well 

I have a 650 bolted in a frame and then in front of it between the frame and the bulk head i have a 250 strapped in. The 250 is empty at the moment but if the employing hits me again its there.

vivaro 2.0l good van curntly using 1.6cdti 30k been prity good so far next van will be vw fancy a change was chatting to verotech they was saying ford suffered cam belt snaps and another macanic on line saying when ford go wrong they cost big bucks lots of oil pump issues cam belts ect ect toyota look good option tho

Only difference is the Warranty. Ten years for Toyota provided they service it.

Leather in a van then cover over the seats with seat protectors the way I’m in and out of the van that fake leather would be worn out in no time lol.

They are similar yes but not the same there are many differences when you know what you are dealing with . The only issues I have had with mine are Peugeot parts , satnav and phone connectivity, which was sorted under warranty. The  10 year guarantee is ok but not fully inclusive , it’s now 4 years old and no other issues.
