I think the reel on the tank is not a bad idea but it needs something behind it like a mud  guard, the tank will get covered in rubbish after reeling in.

Don’t you run yours through a cloth?

I thought it looked a clever idea. Not sure about the mounting but looks better than straps.

Even using a cloth in winter you can still get dirt splashing up but yeah if you made sure you had a clean dry cloth after each job like I would you wouldn’t have a problem,I’m talking  more about staff.

If I had to choose a system after a top of the range Ionic Thermopure it would be a Waterworks with 2 reels on top of the tank out the way, makes perfect sense.

My opinion.

I don't like the position of the controller which is placed too close to the swivel hose reel connector. If any part of that connector starts leaking water, (and it will in time), then the controller is very vulnerable.

Another  issue I have is that the hose reel winding in handle would be on the left which means it could interfere with anything down the van side.  I appreciate its fitted to the left side and could be fitted to the right side, but the owners might need a 2 man setup with a second hose reel on the other side.

As a right handed, very dislexic person, I find reeling in with my left hand much slower.

Is you have a long wheel base van, then the positioning of the tank could well make reaching in from the back doors to manually reel the hose in, difficult, even if you are tall.

That's what I would be considering.

Im a lefty - and always wound in using my right

What's in the space under the reel ?  - water or an empty void ?

Darran

** Edit! - I see an outlet - so water - my concern would be over time the flex and weight of using a reel here leading to fractures in the tank

My concerns would be…

1) what’s holding it down? There’s no steel chassis. The plastic of the tank has (virtually) no structural strength, so in a crash it would almost certainly break loose.

For this flat tank, the danger is reduced as it is low down, but in a crash it could still do some damage and pose a danger. (The other, taller tanks are death traps in my opinion. I would NEVER drive one of those around myself, let alone give one to an employee, whose safety I’m responsible for)

2) the hose reel is subjected to quite powerful forces, especially when reeling in at full speed and the hose gets snagged on something. I use a webbing strap which is wrapped around the steel frame of my system (which I’m turn is bolted to the vehicle’s chassis) to stop mine moving about. The plastic of the tank isn’t strong enough in my opinion. It’ll probably bend it over time, then tear it.

3) strange position for the controller! It would be better tucked out of the way somewhere. You don’t need to access it very often, the pump speed is a ‘Set and forget’ thing, and the filling control isn’t needed at all while working. It’s very vulnerable there.

4) there are no bars on the reel to prevent the hose from falling off the reel to one of the sides. I would bet that would happen so often it would be infuriating.

5) I don’t see the benefit of a flat design like this. Why would you want to take up all of the floor space? It will end up having lots of space above it, but why would you need that?

Personally I would find it more useful to have extra floor space in the van than extra ‘airspace’. Maybe I’m missing something?

What this tank may be useful for is a truck bed?

Just my thoughts.

It looks very nice and I'm sure it works well, but I wouldn't buy it.

I like to have all the items separate, so I can put them exactly where I want them, I work out the side of my van so:
My controller is right by the side door, so I don't have to lean in to turn it on or off. Also it's out the way of potential damage or leaks.
My electric reel is at shoulder height, so I don't have to bend down to reel in or out and the button for the reel is, again, right by the side door, so I don't have to lean in.
My tank is the right way round for me to easily access pipework and easy access to the lid.
More importantly, if I want to change any part of my setup, I can. The Xline one looks good but if you have a niggle about something being In the wrong place then you're a bit stuck with it.

I guess the reel could be symmetrical so could be turned around.
Agree the controller is in a daft place. The system might work well in a small van where space could be limited. I think Xline use a clamp system on the tank itself. No idea how secure it would be.

if this the 450l one i think it would be useless

it will air lock when it gets low and youll probably only get 350l of water out of it before it starts air locking.

you would probably want 700l in that design to last one man all day with no problems.

2 timber wedges the opposite end of the outlet sorts that problem out.

I think you can buy oneway valves that fit hosepipe that might help with flat tank problems although not tried one myself.

I did it for another chap I know you don’t know they are there,he used to have to park like a dog cocking it’s leg in the afternoon to get the last bit of water out.
A couple of inches raised one end gets the water towards the outlet as it gets low.

On a couple of occasions when I used to have a strapped in tank I've pulled the tank out of the side door and tipped it down to the ground to get the last dregs out of the tank to finish a house  :D

Now I just carry a 650l tank

Use a caravan leveller/ramp, just drive up one side, easy enough.

That is a very good tip! Nothing worse than having to park on a kerb with the van pointing the right way to get the water to fall over the outlet or a drive that slopes the wrong way on your last job. Luckily it's rare for me.
We look at them, they look through them.

Yeah far easier to drive up a ramp when you’re running low lol Jesus,if you have an Xline tank just buy 2 rubber door stops and paint em orange 🍊 if you must and put em permanently at the opposite end of the outlet it solves the issue trust me.
You could always have my new hosereel and put that at the back  door end of you’re van that’ll get the back end dragging its arse 😂 and get that last little bit of water in the right place.
