What heaters are you all using, i currently have webasto heaters, but they are quite unreliable, i was looking at an lpg gas boiler  set up instead.
Has anyone done this and if so any recommendations, do's and dont's

My diesel heater is over 5 years old now and it's reliable(used every day all year round).i only had to change a fuse once to get it working again...

What seems to be the problem with yours?

Mines a thermo pro 90 by the way

Might not be the kind of solution that you're looking for, but I like dropping an aquarium heater or two into the tank over night  while the water is being produced. The great thing about this approach is that you don't have to drill a whole in your tank, as with an immersion heater, and with a large body of heated water in the back of the van you don't get any of the hoses or pumps freezing up either.

Thats not going to stop the pumps and hoses freezing over night on a really cold night, trust me been there done that

What do you mean unreliable? Mine did well over 12,000 hours run time before I had any issues with it , it’s now done double that  and had two burners ,  pins and screens . Next time it goes wrong I will replace the complete unit only costs £1,400

My grippatank 9kw has ran for I think about 5 years now too. Only had one issue which was a fan fault. Grippatank found and replaced it on the day for me.

I use hot water all day every day at work and It’s great.

Webastos are currently the best and most reliable daily hot water supply in my opinion.

I’ve tried immersion, LPG, fish tank heaters, the lot.

I’d try and get your webasto running properly rather than switching around.

Since I’ve had battery issues sorted which were my fault it doesn’t miss a beat,turn on and I’ve got hot water all day or for as long as I want it well worth the investment.

I will Echo what Johnny said , I have had mine 2 years and I also had a fan fault which they sorted under warranty.other than that it's been very good.

Like I say no issues only something that was my fault other than that Rolls Royce and they have that name within that industry anyway,I had a 5kw never touched it for 7-8 years worked everyday again apart from wrong battery setup.

In the back of a insulated, 330 SWB transit, I have two 500 litre tanks. Into one of them, at 4.30.pm when the forecast for the night is below freezing, I place two 1000 w aquarium heaters, and to date nothing has ever frozen up. The temperature was reading -9 here a few weeks ago and the temperature in the back of the van was 11 °C.

To anyone that is not interested in buying a hot water system but obviously wants to keep everything from freezing, just buy a blower that works the same on a frost stat as the heater does.
NPower have them in there vans and you used to be able to buy one from Window Cleaning Warehouse I think,job done I think they were around the 500 plus Vat.

Get your heater survived and should be grate I’ve ran lpg for years got to be 7 or 8 they can be a pain when it’s windy burner blows out gas in winter gets very dense and when bottle gets low can only just get warm water with butane there not the safest things to run having said that I’ve had no issues ever but others have also gas can be hard to get hold of shortages etc so  I would stick with diesel

I'm currently looking a diesel heater too. What temp does yours get up to daz? I contacted a supplier and said Thier heater only put out water 30-40degree which would probably drop more it Travels along house. Have you any links for Thermo pro heater? TIA

You have the choice between a 5.2kw Webasto (single operator) or a Webasto Thermo Pro 90  9.1kw which replaced the 90S and 90ST diesel burners.
The specs for the Pro90 and the 90S and 90ST are the same.

We still have Varistream controllers. My 2 man Heatwave will just manage heating the water for the first operator to 55 degrees and the second to 50 degrees - both temperatures are as the hot water leaves the heater. Any higher than that and the burner wouldn't keep up.
 Operator 1 (me) uses microbore hose and my son uses minibore on the other hose reel. When the ground is very cold, the temperature of the water at the brush head can only be called lukewarm at best. I run my flow at 3 which is around 30 on the Spring controller range, where my son uses 2 on his.  Believe it or not, the minibore on his hose reel seems to retain heat better than my microbore.

Last Wednesday I used the heater to fill our backpack with hot water from my external hose port. At 8 on my Varistream, the heater wouldn't keep up with the heat demand of 55 degrees. It would manage, just, at a flow of 7.

But I suppose you get what you pay for and don't really see the point if water isn't that hot, I've 2 vans to put them into plus electric reels so just trying to keep cost down

It was really the summer i wanted the hot water for to make the scrubbing of all the slug trails, bird poop and black dots from fly's etc easier to clean off. The Thermo pro 90 is coming in around £2k inc VAT per unit from company above which i think is reasonable enough but the only thing that is putting me of is they say water comes out of unit at 30-40 degree, do you that use this unit think that would be hot enough for extra scrubbing power?
