Another George question
« on: February 07, 2023, 09:40:33 pm »
Say you have a days work all in a couple of streets but you've built it up over some time so the addresses don't appear in the numeric order that you clean them in.  Is there a way to re order all the addresses so that  they do ? I'm sure there must be, and that I've done it before but for the life of me I can't remember how  ???

I've no idea what you're on about smudger but then I'm sleep deprived.
Probably why I couldn't remember how to do what I was asking.
No worries now, all sorted. I've figured it out for myself.

The software is fine. The (optional) back up server is down. It was just a question as to how to do something.
It's a game of three halves!

Got there in the end !
Backed up to my external hard drive before I started messing with things.
Thank you to Richard Connett, that's exactly what I did.
I've had a lot of time off with a recently newborn son , it's been the perfect time to really clean up my chaotic round and get it in to some time efficient order, now sorted !
George has never been that intuitive to use. No real guide on how to use the features. I've really just had to play around with it and work out what things do for myself. I'd imagine, if it were brought out now, it would be very different but probably at least double the price or a subscription based app . 15+ years of use it's been an absolute bargain and best £50 I've spent on my business.

Agreed!! For my purposes it keeps me organised , prints worksheets, takes care of debts and invoices
I don’t really want anything else but know at some time I’ll have to migrate somewhere else . Until then we keep going as we are

George won't work on 'Windows 11 operating system' just so you know for future problems arising. Most new pc's are windows 11 , some of them you can revert back to windows 10 within 5 days of purchasing one.

I'd rather pay £15 a month to use CP than fanny about with George.its so much better.

I used to have all the same issues that you guys have been having.

I've had no problems with cleaner planner in 8 years apart from an email invoice issue once which was fixed within 24 hours years ago....
price higher/work harder!

That's not true. I have windows 11 on a new netbook. Yes out of the box it will only use Microsoft approved apps. This is called "S" mode but you can opt out of that ( an irreversible action ) and then install George or whatever you want. It maybe different if upgrading an existing device but in my case when I set up my new computer I was prompted to decide whether to continue in S mode or permanently remove it.

I've never had any problems with George Daz. I simply had forgotten how to do something and posted a question that a little over an hour later I'd resolved for myself. Call it fannying around if you like but I'm not comfortable with all these monthly subscriptions - cleaner planner, go cardless, QuickBooks etc. For a sole trader, window cleaning is about as simple as it gets. I want full control, no ongoing monthly financial committments to any third parties that have me by the balls when they decide to up their fees.

There is nothing wrong with George! Brilliant £50 spent. Wouldn't waste £15  a month every month on some other window cleaning program that is similar, just a waste of money.

Why rent a program when you can own it outright?
Why rent a house when you can buy it?
Why lease a car to give it back?

Dead money renting anything, lining the pocket of someone else! Your money Daz, you waste it how you see fit  ;D

Absolutely - George is  excellent

Just not suitable for some businesses

Thankfully we are NOT all the same

I opted out of windows 11 for S mode so basically it's still windows 10 as it's not using windows 11 as it definitely won't work with 11

We all work differently and we have more choices now. Fair play to those who use it and value the service for what it offers them.

I bought Window Cleaner Pro when it came out when I use to employ. Kept letting me down and software help recovering back ups was terrible so I stopped using it. Don't like being dependant on other people for my own work with regard software.

All my customers telephone numbers, addresses, etc are on my phone listed by areas cleaned so a couple keystrokes and all the texts are done automatically

Almost all my customers pay bank transfer, Bacs so save paying transaction fees to receive my wages.

George is  exceptionally good value for what it is and has never let me down, hence why I will always sing praise to George and for me personally I don't need any other software, especially forking out £15 or whatever each and every month and hoping nothing goes wrong.

You've lost me. Is my new netbook with windows 11 pre installed now basically windows 10 because I opted and clicked out/removed S mode ? It's appearance and layout looks completely different to windows 10 on my home pc and I have George installed and working on both.

Edit

I've just checked my netbook this morning in case I'm going completely mad. Windows 11 operating system with George installed and working fine.
