With the best will in the world, only a very small percentage of people are going to be physically able to do this job into their 70’s. Having that as your only plan for your later years is just crazy imo. Then there’s the squatting in your Mrs house thing aswell. Not great planning Daz but aslong as you’re happy.   ;D

Dont have a pension and dont think i`ll bother getting one

Just retire at what age you choose and pay someone else to clean your work, theres your pension for the rest of your life.
This is one of the options I’ll be considering.
I also have two residential rental properties which will give me an income……that said if things keep going the way they are I might sell these as the Scottish government is making being a landlord less and less appealing.

Best occupation in Scotland is bennefits, it's the only sector that's had a 'in line with inflation' pay rise!! Wee Krankie offered nurses 7% and gave the work shy 0ver 10%!!😲
My wife works in schools, she got offered 3%.

One thing's for sure.... If Daz a had a good pension to look forward to, and a 4-500k house paid off for when he hit 60, he'd be on here saying how much he's looking forward to retirement, more time for hobbies, 5 star holidays etc  and how he couldn't imagine having to work 'till you drop!🤣🤣

My missus house will be paid off within 2 years.🙂

I have plenty of money behind me which is growing every month in various accounts and fixed rate bonds...

I've just turned 51 so im still fairly young

I only work part time now so plenty of time for my hobbies

I couldn't give a fook about pensions.... ;D

You've been with your missus years, why don't you move in now and put what you pay as rent, gas, council tax and electric towards her mortgage?

Thats gotta be somewhere approaching 800 a month isnt it?

I don't want to move in while her daughter and  boyfriend are living there.when they buy their first house together I'll move in then.probably be another couple of years yet as they save up for a deposit....👍

Unless your suffering from a real bad illness or crippled no one should be able to get benefits without having to do some sort of work IMO.....as for food banks they should shut them all down!some of them get free food then order a takeaway the next day!absolutely scum bags!heroin addicts round here spend all their benefits on smack and go and get their free food! ::)roll >:(

Couldn’t make it up 😂😂

Your subsidised council flat is a benefit Daz, what crippling illness are you suffering from?

I don't live in a council flat mate.its housing association and I grew up round here...born and bred unlike most of the foreigners who live here!some of them can't even speak English! ::)roll

I think you'd be daft to give up a council flat and move in with a bird.  If she kicks you out you are homeless and into the ridiculous housing market.

In Dazs position I'd keep it forever even if I just used it as storage.

Or sub let it illegally to one of the local crack heads  :D

It has crossed my mind once or twice.the TDS round here is a lot lower than missus house also more room for my drums....😄but I'd be saving myself around £5k a year when I move in

I hope I won’t be knackered by 70, keep myself fit, run marathons etc, however, banking on being able to bring an income in by doing a physical job at that age, with no backup plan, is madness imo.

I’m sick to death of her and her policies Winpro. She plays a numbers game to appeal to the masses. Between the wife and I we pay over 3k a year more on PAYE than those south of the border, and for what, free prescriptions and free student fees!
There’s worse,  I would like to sell one of my rental properties, guess what, I’m not allowed to because of the cost of living crisis. Yes that’s right, I’m not allowed to sell a house that belongs to me😡

Think they've lost the plot, they seem obsessed with children, sexuality and gender bending! A party of bent, sexual deviants determined to strip every Scottish child of their innocence.  Anyway, don't get me started!!😡🤣🤣
Comfortably Numb!

I don't need a back up plan Danny.why would I?I'll have my state pension,a large nest egg and no mortgage if I can't work for whatever reason...
