Thing is I will have to empty the tank and turn it around to get another in.
Anyone know where I can get a submersible water heater I can drop in through the top of the tank in the meantime?
All I've found is American 110 volt or aquarium heaters that are too low wattage.

For anyone who's thinking of an immersion heater.
This came yesterday.

Heats a bucket of water in minutes.
Just drop it in wires and all!
Much happier with this on a timer than I was with the 3kw immersion, as it's on a standard 13 amp circuit.
If it works I won't bother fitting another especially as I'm having trouble finding a 2kw immersion.

It’s  cheap Chinese   rubbish I wouldn’t risk my house electrics using something like this  always better to get something that’s kite marked or ce approved a lot of theses things are unsafe  and this only comes to light after there have been a series of fires or accidents then they are removed from the shelves and not allowed to be sold , however this one is a direct import from china  again be vary careful.

Bet if you open the plug it doesn't even have a proper fuse fitted, never trust anything but British when it comes to home electrics apart from anything from Denmark.

I have a 2kw immersion heater install so not interested in a drop in immersion but just our of curiosity these drop in heaters do you drill an hole in the top of tank/tank lid as all the heat and steam would escape if you leave the lid open?

I doubt it will heat it enough to cause any steam , provided the lid is vented it should be fine all ours only have the vent in the lids and tank temperature is regularly over 70 degrees the steam condensates on the lid and goes back into the water air in the van doesn’t contain any steam

Yes mine lid  is vented and still lets out steam at the end of working day with whatever water  is left in the tank when I undo the lid 👍
What I’m asking is do people leave their lid undone while the drop in heater is in the tank? As you won’t be able to screw the lid shut.

Ah ok I see what you mean , I would just drop it in the tank and then just put the lid over it
