That’s pretty derogatory of you Daz

There are some really clever people on here that led a life before windows - unlike you and Nigel

Nothing derogatory in what he said at all, I think he is correct in saying the average window cleaner wouldn’t be able to install a diesel hot water system into a van. Being  really clever doesn’t mean you have the skills required for such a job.

Smudge was saying that you no longer lead a life when you become a window cleaner and he's right.

I would say you have more of a life if you define when you work over the chap you see sitting in the estate agents or similar, who’s the clever one the bloke that earns someone’s weekly wage in a day or the bloke that works all week for the same.

Is it about the money or defining when you work?

there you have it....

no where did I say being a window cleaner is not leading a life, however - many here did other things before window cleaning and that knowledge and skill is vast - from car and electrical knowledge through to innovation of a budget water heater the list goes go

And say I stand by what I say - because Daz and Nigel cant drill a hole or mount a tank then in their opinion anyone who's a shiner cant either, I give people more credit than that (see above)

As with any forum/profession there are a range of skills - technical, theoretical, practical - some are better than others at certain things - none of which makes anyone better than someone else.

Can’t see what was derogatory in saying the average window cleaning couldn’t fit a diesel heater tbh, it’s just stating the obvious.

Maybe know it all Nigel should set up a sideline fitting these heaters when it’s too cold to work on the windows for his delicate hands….

ok had a think - yes derogatory was probably the wrong word, - disrespectful is more like what I was looking for.

Sorry just cant abide these generalised sweeping statements that get flung out without people being able to back it up

It really can’t be that complicated.

Most of the window cleaning suppliers sell them as a one box system.

Surely it cannot be that difficult to connect up to the system.

My diy knowledge is pretty good, ive renovated my house, new central hesting system, en suite from scratch including all soil pipe and ground works to man hole, new kitchen fitted etc etc. I’m no engineer, but I simply don’t understand how fitting a diesel hot water heater in the van with a few hoses is complicated?

I may be missing something, because there is very little information available on the fitting of these heaters. I am assuming (perhaps wrongly) it is a one box system with simple connections in > out > recirculate and then the electrics to the battery.

I’d like to know what is involved, I’m not going to tap into my van diesel tank, rather use its own small tank.

It is worth considering how you are going to refill your separate tank. If you use your heater daily you are likely to have to refill it every 2 days. Not insurmountable but for me it seems a bit of a faff.

I was joking, Darran.
I agree with you, there are some very knowledgeable window cleaners on this forum alone.

Good luck with it then....  ;D

Don't forget you need to drill 2 holes in your van floor for exhaust and air inlet pipes

Having a separate tank will be a pain, much more convenient to just fill up from your existing fuel tank than carrying a Jerry can of diesel around with you....

I'm not saying some window cleaners wouldn't be able to fit one but if it was that easy we d all be fitting them ourselves...

Even guys with an engineering background find it fairly complicated!

No disrespect here or derogatory just realistic... :)

A lot of that is very simple daz…

Plumbing wise, it also must be extremely simple…

It’s not that simple m8 it may be for someone that has an engineering background or someone that’s very good at DIY but it’s not a get delivered and install by Joe Bloggs.
