Will probably now invest in a diesel system as well, perhaps in summer I’ll install one ready for the next winter. I’ve no idea how easy they are to self install?

Better off getting one professionally fitted it’s more complicated than you think

Just re reading this if it’s an air heater they are simple to fit , if it’s a water heater it’s more complicated

The 5kw is far simpler if you can DIY you need a cabinet though really.

Air heater is for now - that’s easy.

But might buy a diesel hot water system this summer and fit myself, there’s absolutely no installation videos though.

Externally from a cabinet or the cabinet it would come in  you have to deal with an exhaust and fuel pump,the 5kw is a different unit far less daunting the burner unit is half the size and you only have 1 heat exchanger to deal with as well as half the piping.
When i had a 5kw it was easy to service items and fix leaky pipes etc as there’s plenty of room to get tools inside the cabinet,landscape 2 man heaters are cramped inside.

The air heaters are easy ti fit hardens part is dropping the fuel tank ti fit the standpipe , if you have a separate  fuel tank inside the van it will stink the van out with the smell of diesel

Yeah it does smell a bit if you have a separate diesel tank but they can be done to a more professional standard to help this being to bad,if you have a separate tank it won’t take long to fit.
I do anything and get anything that makes my day easier.

Do the 5kw heaters not produce very hot water ?

Never really looked into hot water systems but everyone seems to use the 9kw ones.

Yeah and them if I wanted em I’d get them I tell you they really helped a bloke I know,do you know he ploughed his way through 2 foot of snow in his winter tyres 🛞 only to get to a job that he couldn’t stand up cleaning lol.
There’s no way I’m going out in snow and ice to clean a few windows.

They are easily hot enough they are adequate for a single user I used and serviced mine for over 10-12 years,the 9kw is a more powerful burner and is better suited to a 2 man system and if you use it as a 1 man the water is hotter than that of the 5kw in use.
The 5kw trust me is hot enough to crack glass easily I’ve done it,if you want very hot water from the 5kw recirculating the water between jobs increases it significantly.

PF appear to be out of stock on water heaters atm and I should think anyone who considers getting one gets it done in the summer so they have plenty of time to get to grips with it ready for the cold snap in the winter where it comes in so handy.

I would spend the extra and get the 9kw. At least then you will have the option of using properly hot water if you wish.

IMO the 5kw does not quite cut it.

Yeah I would go for the 9kw you’ll get hotter water the price difference is not enough imo to favour the 5kw over the 9 even if you work alone really.
