Can fit an overflow to tank but I wouldn’t bother I would fit a female EZ to the top of the tank for recirculating.

So to recircualte, it’s just hose reel into tank overnight.

Two batteries needed?

Sounds very simple, I’d opt to use a separate fuel tank for it for simplicity as well.

I fit a air heater in mine with a tank in the van & it doesn’t smell of diesel

You can DIY it but it’s a lot easier with a 5kw inside a cabinet trust me the fuel pump can be fitted anywhere you get a long section of fuel line when you buy the kit,the Webasto 5kw kit could be purchased for around 1200 notes a couple of years ago but like I said the cabinet the window cleaning manufacturers have made makes it a lot easier to install.

Not quite ...... cold water from tank into heat exchanger , other end of heat exchanger out to pole. The heater itself has a closed system with antifreeze in .

Absolute tosh , the 9kw is just as easy to fit as a 5 kw , exactly the same principle .

Yeah ok we will ask someone on here to fit one from scratch with no cabinet lol what a complete tool of a comment,someone with good DIY skills would struggle.
And as for saying not quiet hose to this to that is just like  being the girl at school that used to pinch me 😂,get a grip man DIY a 9kw look at a 5kw internally over a 9 with the 9 being in a landscape cabinet and the 5 being in an upright,think what you like about me my boy I’ve had hot water Webasto units for over 16 years lol.

Same principal but double the hoses , heat exchangers and more space needed

Gonna use it in the mornings to defrost the kit. Also gonna use it for the garage when I’m doing DIY 

Will probably now invest in a diesel system as well, perhaps in summer I’ll install one ready for the next winter. I’ve no idea how easy they are to self install?

I don't think you ll be able to fit a diesel heater yourself without specialist knowledge mate....

You ll need to drill the van floor for exhaust and air inlet,drop the fuel tank to integrate the fuel pipe into the fuel sender,a cabinet to house your pump,controller,heat exchangers,header tank,webasto heater,wiring,and a decent split charge relay(or battery to battery charger depending on van).it's a lot more complicated than you think!

I wouldn't bother with the 5kw heater.id go for the webasto thermo pro 90....

The 5kw just doesn't get the water hot enough.the 9kw is the way to go.

I've had my hot system 5 years now and don't regret it one bit despite the cost of installation and ongoing running costs..

I've fitted a stainless steel marine grade calorifier 200 litre tank with accumulator tank wired into the van radiator in a previous vehicle, that was the hottest water heater going when driving and topped up with electric if need be, it was pretty cool. Did it years ago.

Sold the vehicle but kept the calorifier as I plan on using it for heating my water at home now I am in the process of setting up an additional on/off grid solar system over Xmas. Use 48 volt 3.5kW lithium phosphate 04 server rack batteries and don't plan on selling back to the grid hence wiring it all up so any excess solar gets used for heating calorifier but need a plumber to plumb it into my system and hopefully use it for my radiators eventually.

Exactly....even you found it quite complicated!the average window cleaner(even if he has fairly good DIY skills)wouldn't stand a chance of doing a good job IMO....
