Late start today as it was -5 at 8:00. Started at 10:30 and it was -2 but workable with warm/hot water. I didn’t have any paths directly under windows at any of the properties I cleaned today, generally paths are a couple of feet away from the walls, otherwise everybody would be scraping their knuckles and shoulders off the walls as you walk past, or you would get clobbered by walking into the protruding window sills, down pipes, gas boxes etc, etc. As DJW mentioned earlier, front and back downstairs windows generally have flowerbeds, grass or decorative stones underneath them. Yes there can be a problem with upstairs windows which are directly above front door steps, but the majority have some sort of door canopies which prevent the water going on the steps.
If you don’t want to/choose not to work in cold conditions fair enough, but there is no need to be hysterical about it.
