I had a brilliant day.
Worked part time with covid, chucked salt on the windows then brushed it away, drummed up some new work at £350 hour, dried my socks on my heated seats, drank a flask of boiling water then home by 10.30. Ate some baked beans from a floating tray in the bath then bonked the Mrs.
Loads of tips and I only work part tome.
Printed all my slips for 2023 snd I only work part time.
;D ;D ;D
I don't know what my favourite bit is but I'm going for 'floating tray in the bath'.
That could change though :D.

If my WC turned up in this I would send him away.

And you would be another dross customer in the bin then  ;) I messaged all mine last night and no one said a word apart from a couple wishing me luck in this weather.
What did your message say?

That i would be round today to clean windows, i lied lol

Worked 10-3 today, -3 when I started, 0 just after midday. I work mainly on the coast so temperatures not too bad. I planned my work accordingly so there were no conservatories to clean in the morning.
I have an immersion so everything in the back was nice and warm as was the water. The beauty of the immersion heater is that it’s like having a giant radiator in the back of the van.
I have a days rural work due towards the end of the week that will probably be put on hold as the temperature inland will be lower than I experienced today.

That was my point. We'll be ruled by the weather not whether we've got work scheduled or Christmas tips due.

I know but its always the predicament, message them then cant work or dont message them then it turns out i can. Have to go with the first option just in case.

Not had any issues here in Bristol and been working from 8-4 pm

hose reels get drained after last job of the day. One at a time we plug a tail end into each hose reel and pull the whole 100 m off into a neat pile then slowly wind back on as the remaining water drains from inside it, then repeat with second hose reel, then drain all water from pole hoses wring out any cloth's and dry the deck of the van (sides are ply lined up to wheel arches and speed lined, floor is speed lined and van liner back on top of this) I have an outside double plug socket which charges leisure batteries via a CTEC MXS 10 10EC with an onboard circuit breaker inside van, leisure batteries get charged every night. I then have an electric greenhouse heater set on frost stat pointing at both hose reels this keeps the temperature in the back of the van permanently over 0 degrees so no kit in the back of the van has the possibility of freezing, the fan heater also has a circuit breaker and my van never gets condensation inside and I have it set up so system doesn't leak so when we have dry weather the back of the van is generally bone dry anyway.

When I come out in the morning usually 7-30 am I disconnect all of above, start the engine, put the heated windscreen on then fire up the PF 2KW heater, by the time we arrive at the first job water is up to 75 degrees, we then circulate it around the two hose reels (takes minutes) and ready to start cleaning for the day, heater stays on until last job then we just repeat the above.

Using this method means we never get a freeze up, we have plenty of varied work and can always find jobs/sites/blocks to work where frozen path's aren't an issue and using the electric fan heater means we're not annoying the neighbours in the middle  of the night with the diesel heater kicking in  ;) and it's cheaper method than the diesel with no drain on the leisure batteries during the night so we know they are in top condition for working with hot water during the day.

I think when there is ice on the ground you make yourself look desperate for  a few quid it’s not life threatening to have  dirty Windows but could cause customers to slip over in the  ice left behind by us , also most on hear are earning £500 per day so can easily afford to take a few days off 😂😂😂 this weather shows who are telling the truth with earnings and those that are working hand to mouth and make themselves look desperate,if someone turned up at my house spraying water around in this weather they would be told in no uncertain terms ware to go .  Some claim to have large sums of money in the bank but are still determined to go out out in this why ?….. ,from the customers point of view I think many wouldn’t appreciate us leaving water / ice behind , also from a RAMS  point of view I would love to see the risk assessment as to the prevention of slips ,trips  and falls , if anyone had a fall after we had been we would be held liable , not worth the risk for  hundred quid a day .

All work completed no problems....I even called at my mother's and gave her windows an Xmas clean this afternoon! 8)

Some window cleaners will look for excuses, some will just not fancy working in a bit of cold weather (each to their own)

No I'm not desperate

I don't live 'hand to mouth'

Yes I have plenty of money in the bank

Tips just over £200 currently,a box of chocs and a bottle of red wine with the best part of 2 weeks to go!I don't think I'll have a record year but not doing too badly all things considered!🙂

Turning up to clean windows in 5-6” of snow 🤣 the stench of desperation fills the room.

I wouldn't work in 5 or 6 inches of snow mate.its not the same all over the country.hard frost here but hardly any snow(just a light dusting).

I swept any standing water away and no it didn't freeze and it was -2 most of the day....perfectly workable day for me!👍

If it was just cold Daz we would be working but as I say it’s been snowing and it’s laid across most of the South especially in areas where I work rurally,as soon as you turn the news on and you see cars abandoned on the M25 it’s time to forget work for a few days.
