Heard recently of a guy I used to work for back in 1992 has fallen off his ladders.he was on the ground for 5 hours apparently before he was found....

Not in a good way....remember it only takes one slip....he's been cleaning for nearly 40 years(trad only)

I only have a few jobs that I use a ladder on(for cleaning glass roofs)but I'm going to phase them out in the next few years.

No chance!25 hours a week is enough for me (327 jobs at present).all his work is trad and very low priced.

I doubt he ll be back cleaning windows again.

The other older window cleaner I know is 79.still working part time on ladders too.i hope I'm still working at that age and in good health but there's no guarantees.

I’ve been looking through my pension plan, they’ve lost well over 8k in the last year. I can’t believe I pay to have my funds managed!
Looks like I’ll be working ‘till 85.
I’ve also terminated a sickness plan that I must have paid in around £25k over the years. I will get a massive dividend payout of £1500 on that one.
They couldn’t understand why I was so miffed!

⬆️ honestly it is a privilege and you are lucky to get to that sort of age,you pay into a pension plan for 30-40 years and are lucky to see 10 years of it honestly it’s a numbers game when you know someone in that job it’s an eye opener.
What aspirations do people have to go half way round the world at that sort of age,I’ve said it before a walk and a coffee and maybe a meal out once a week is all you see most pensioners doing just save the rest for you’re kids to buy cars houses and holidays with lol,spend it when you can enjoy it you can’t walk round Vegas when you need a new knee or hip trust me 🤣🤣🤣

I've never bothered with a sickness/accident cover.ive got £20k+ in my emergency fund account which I'm always adding to every month plus I have other money in other accounts that I'm also adding to month on month.once I  got a decent amount of money behind me these things don't worry me so much.....

Mine's plummeted too, not just this year either.
It's daylight robbery with our money just disappearing into nowhere.
And as you say, you have to pay them to make it disappear

Pensions are a waist of money  and very unreliable, far better off investing in property as you have tangible assets that will always be worth more than what you paid for it

. Hope the guy is ok . At that age hard to recover from . But maybe phasing those ladder climbs out over the next few years for you dazmond will be too late . It could be you tomorrow. Stop em now . I haven’t done any for years . My lads have never cleaned a window off a ladder , and never will .
