Cleaning external cladding (box profile)
« on: November 02, 2022, 10:15:11 am »
Hi. We’ve been asked to quote to clean a few industrial/commercial units. To clean the metal walls and roofs.

Is wfp okay? Or pressure washer?

Just going to use water unless there’s a safe recommended product?

Thanks, I appreciate your advice.

Both are ok - pressure washer with steam will be quickest - cold p/w may not work - it doesn’t always take the residue dirt off

I prefer wfp - it’s more labour intensive but the finish is the best - pre treat with a bit of tfr

We do a few depending what’s on them we softwash them with a hypo mix to kill algae and bacteria , if it’s just road grime a spray with a Virosol mix and scrub with hot WFP rinse with garden hose , we don’t generally use a pressure washer on them as have not had good results with cold .

Thanks gents. Is it best to apply tfr/virosol with a solution in a backpack? Apply like a weed killer, and ‘mist’ it on?

Cool. How long time wise? About a minute a sqm?

A back pack or trolly is tge best way to apply it by spray nozzle on a WFP

we just apply by backpack through the wfp brush - starts the scrubbing process off straight away

Thanks. What sort of ratio for virosol? 1/100 and see how it works?

10-1 so 2 ltr per back pack full , 100-1 is way to weak   10-1 will remove all road grime

I’ll have to buy it by the pallet!😄

I think this is the easiest way to clean them.

I shy away from them now but one large building I did with profiled cladding I bought wider brushes and cut bristles down in the middle three inches of the brush to match the building profile.

If it was a small unit I would not bother.
It's a game of three halves!

We buy it in 20 ltr drums to be fair you will be surprised how far it will go one drum will make 200 ltr of mix that’s a lot of mix , we use 2-3 drums on an avarage commercial building , and just price it in the  quite . Usually buy 20 drums at a time . Talking of that I do need to order some more winder how much it will have gone up by 😬😬😬

I did suggest softwashing it but that’s only any good for organic growth not road grime you need a degreaser for that .
