Builders cleans charge
« on: October 21, 2022, 07:04:32 am »
What do you charge for new build builders cleans (wondows only)

I’ve got 80 to do, done around 10, never do them as i generally hate them, only doing as it’s for a company I do a lot of commercial work for, so don’t want another company coming in.

Good news as I’m only doing 2 or 3 a week as they get completed.

Other good news is they aren’t actually that bad, they have plastic covering the windows whilst any work is going on, so it’s really just a few bits of plaster to scrape off the frames and then a general window clean inside and out. Still takes an hour for each house, or more. (They obviously want them spotless).

Wondered what the going rate was for a 3-4 bed house builders clean.

I would sub it out at a loss if I had to to keep the company on side you do a lot of work for, sting em later down the line to make my money back.

Just started getting calls for gutter cleans and I don’t want em to much like aggro to me,I don’t care what you can make on em I sub them out too much like dirty hard work from my experience emptying that bin in the rain, and if you aren’t doing em in the rain what’s the point lol.

Will 100% be doing them, they’re not difficult as hardly dirty,  just the odd bit of plaster on the frames.

No way I’d risk another company coming in when I do so much well paid commercial work for them, not a chance.

Happy with £60 a plot if I continue to only spend 1 hour per plot.

There is your answer...
If you are happy that's good.
Some people hate certain jobs while others love it.
You never know what's around the corner so sometimes it's better to keep your options open.
Sound like you are happy with price too.

I don't get why you're asking us 🤷‍♂️

I know why you want to keep in with them but just wait till after Christmas 🎄 it’ll be a race to the bottom on prices especially new builds.

Because I wanted to know what the going rate was, but no one does them by the sounds of things.

I never do them, so I’ve no idea what people charge.

My £60 a plot could be really cheap or really expensive.

Either way, I’m doing them, so was interested to know what others charge for standard builders cleans.

We don’t do them but I know ones that do and they take a lot longer  than an hour , so guessing yours must be very good builders , removing tape from frames , stickers ,silicone ,paint, plaster,  cement  etc is very time consuming , time wise it will also depend on size of house and type of windows , good luck with it if you are happy with the hourly rate it doesn’t matter what others charge  ,

£60 a plot per hour is fine in my book. Especially if you can fit them in two or three at a time as you like and they are not far from your other work.

I would just be careful that the price per hour is always achieved because if it takes an hour and a quarter too often then you are in mediocre territory.

Maybe have a contingency that if a plot takes longer then you have an agreement to charge more for it.
It's a game of three halves!

Do you not think it should be a much higher rate than that as normal  monthly repeat work will pay  around this figure ? Any add ons we do it’s got to be at least double or treble the normal windows rate or there is no point in doing it .

Normally yes. But he wants to keep a good customer happy and maybe £120/£180 per hour per plot feels a bit rich.

I personally wouldn't do builder's cleans.

But while I have many jobs that will average £60 per hour I don't have too many days in a cycle (6 hour days for me) that I go significantly north of £360.
It's a game of three halves!

£60 a plot?

That’s nuts.

If you are doing them properly allowing an hour is not enough £ wise, sounds to me like you’re hell bent on keeping them as a customer by  the hesitation on the financial side.
60 an hour on builders cleans is poor.

I did a builders clean on a self build quite a few years ago. I charged them £30 an hour. I stipulated it was to be by the hour and not by the job. After a couple of hours the owner came out and told me to hurry up  ;D

Nope, none of that mate, they have the whole window including frames covered, so it’s not particularly hard at all.
