For those that use immersion heaters for pure water. Are you planning to continue using the immersion when the energy price rise hits in October?I think I will cut mine down to very cold weather and when I have a minging property to clean. My round does not really support daily use with the costs rising.
I overpaid all spring and summer so bought my gas and electric when it was cheap. Should last a couple of years.
I’d still recommend to just bite the bullet and get a diesel heater. Yes it’s a bit of an investment, but after that it’s about £5 per day and no prep needed. Just flick a switch and get warm or hot water at the turn of a dial. This is my 4th winter with it now and I’d never go back.

Dont forget how much diesel has gone up aswell.500l heated to 60 degrees takes around 32kwh of electricity = 32kwh x £0.34 = £10.88Diesel heater 6hrs a day = 6 x £1.79 = £10.74immersion heater - 2kw element = £70 + immersion boss =£20. all done for £100. Grippatank 9.1kw heater = £4,500 installed.I'll still use mine on freezing nights. £5/10 of electricity is cheaper than a loosing an hour or 2 waiting for pumps or reels to thaw.
