For those that use immersion heaters for pure water.
Are you planning to continue using the immersion when the energy price rise hits in October?
I think I will cut mine down to very cold weather and when I have a minging property to clean.
My round does not really support daily use with the costs rising.

I will carry on much as before. I am a sole operator using household electricity.

I only heat the water when the temp is lower than 3 degrees overnight - so not much will change

I only use it to prevent gear freezing so will continue to use it when needed.

My gas/elec bill has just been reduced by £30 a month which is cheaper than it was in October 2021. I don’t warm my water up for work but if I was to, I’d look at reducing my personal use in the house (turning lights off when not in use, only boil a cup full of water when making one brew etc) to try and balance things out.

It’s also a business expense.

I hate using cold water for window cleaning on all but the hottest of days...

Sod using cold water in autumn/winter! :)

It works out around £20 a week....easily affordable for me.👌
price higher/work harder!

I reckon mine would be around £10 a night at the new rate.
It used to cost around what a diesel user would spend.
I may be wrong but 2kw at 10 hours.
Treated myself to hot today before the rates go up😁

I overpaid all spring and summer so bought my gas and electric when it was cheap. Should last a couple of years.

Just beacause you may be in credit doesn’t mean the price rises won’t affect you  your price per unit will still go up ,

I know you are being satirical but…..You didn’t pay for your gas & electric, you gave them your money to look after until it go into a deficit, they put it into their bank account to earn themselves interest on your money ;)

I’d still recommend to just bite the bullet and get a diesel heater.   ;D

Yes it’s a bit of an investment, but after that it’s about £5 per day and no prep needed. Just flick a switch and get warm or hot water at the turn of a dial.

This is my 4th winter with it now and I’d never go back.

Dont forget how much diesel has gone up aswell.

500l heated to 60 degrees takes around 32kwh of electricity = 32kwh x £0.34 = £10.88
Diesel heater 6hrs a day = 6 x £1.79 = £10.74

immersion heater - 2kw element = £70 + immersion boss =£20. all done for £100.
Grippatank 9.1kw heater = £4,500 installed.

I'll still use mine on freezing nights. £5/10 of electricity is cheaper than a loosing an hour or 2 waiting for pumps or reels to thaw.

Do you recommend a supplier? Cheers

Grippatank for me all the way.

Excellent customer service, and they know the heaters inside out. They can build them from the ground up and if there are any issues or faults they won’t hang around in sorting it out.

I know that’s the figures, but in real world use im definitely not £10 per day on diesel.  It must be the cool down time between jobs etc. it’s not running flat out through all the working day.

Temperature drops outside frost stat comes on and circulates hot water and keeps everything frost free overnight, forget cleaning windows with the benefit of hot water that in itself is worth the money.
Funny how this time of the year this comes up as the months skip by the closer we get to the end of March the more of a waste of money they are 🤣🤣🤣.

My diesel heater is running for around 6 hours a day  and uses nowhere near £10 a day...mines on full heat too all year round....

I put around £30 diesel per week in my van for heating water and driving around(I only use my van for work)....👍

You were paying £5 a day for the diesel for your heater back in 2019 when it was £1.28 a litre , have you got your figures mixed up a bit ?
