Leave it till next month
« on: September 26, 2022, 04:07:50 pm »
Like many of you I text the day before to arrange a clean .
until last month you may have had one or two say holiday or painters or what ever ,
This month about 50% have said leave it this month ,some jobs even the 10£ crap jobs we use to fill in I wonder if this is a trend ?
Even more annoying is some jobs are now stand alone and only worth travelling to because I had 5 or six jobs in the area now only 1 or 2  do I dump  the lot or do I put up and shut up what do you guys do ?

50%  :o, now that is bad news, certainly had a few more than usual myself, but nothing of any note.

Stop the texting then unless it's for a locked gate, this problem will then stop for you, just turn up and clean simple really, some will be taking your text as is it ok to clean tomorrow then giving them the option to say no don't bother.

we never send texts to say were coming and we we never have.

like the previous said you need to stop texting all of them. a 50% drop off rate is ridiculous. that would put me out of business in a couple of months

First off are you sure its 50% or is that an exaggeration? i do about 100 customers a  week and  i cant imagine a scenario where 50 of them would skip lol, that seems insane to me....

The other week i had one day when i had about 5 skippers. Wondering what was going  on that day! But thats a one off...

I always get the odd one skipping for various reasons, its only a problem when its the same customer doing the skipping but usually for me its a different customers for various reasons, holiday, work being done and occasionally the odd one who just skips for no apparent reason. As long as there isnt a trend with a particular customer i dont really care, i always add a couple of jobs extra to each days worksheet to cover it.

The only solution for you can be more customers, i have about 100 customers more than i can get round, which means of course im always behind but it also means i never have a drop in income or ever have to worry about someone skipping a clean...

Do you just jump locked gates then ? or do you not get many locked gates ?

I would estimate half of my work has a locked gate, it would be a real inconvenience most days if i didnt text anyone. I text probably 80 percent of mine. I text quite a few that dont have a locked gate also as i just always have. Certainly on the odd day i have forgot to text or the texts didnt go through i have had to clean a load of fronts.

This is why so many of us if we are honest in the past have hung on to certain stuff just in case of times like this, once you’ve been through a few recessions it stays with you always want to be in a position that you have too much work really unless you’re just doing this as a part time gig.
How many times have them jobs you hate doing been a blessing lol.

I have a few skipping every week recently. I send my pricing again, showing 40% higher price for 12 weekly service and charge them accordingly next time. Fill day with other jobs or finish earlier.

I text a few most days(usually for access)...I can't remember the last time I had a customer skip for no reason at all....

Is this part of your round well established or is it newly canvassed work?
price higher/work harder!

I hardly ever get anyone skip unless it's for building work on holiday etc but im 6wk and 12wk and usually always behind.....maybe it's the monthly cleans to frequent imo.

⬆️ this is what I’ve always said about monthly work if they all went 6-8 weekly you’d be having to find 4-5 weeks work.

how do you deal with locked gates and access issues, not to mention open windows (upstairs) and velux etc.. ?

Not really if you've got a large stand alone house to clean and you can't get in to clean it. Then you've wasted your time haven't you.

I text near enough all of mine. Sometimes I pray for someone to cancel, other times it boils my pi55 when I get a cancellation and it shortens my day. This coming Wednesday I'm dreading as it's a monster day, I'm hoping for one or two cancellations tbh.

Splash and Dash has over 4,500 customers and he doesn't text any of them if I'm correct. It works for him but texting works for me.

50% cancellations is a very lot @ OP.

We aren't like Sky, BT, electricity companies etc where you're tied into a binding contract. We have to suck it up and hope for the best.
We look at them, they look through them.

I think the OP has to be exaggerating at 50% surely  :o
