There are no great deals out there right now.

Van market is crazy.

Best deals you can get are some 0% finance offers, but still, the initial prices are eye watering.

The second hand market is starting to become a little more sensible, but not alot.

0% finance was a motor trade hook that caught many who didn't look at the full picture. Citroen had many offers in my day, but it was the same size cake cut different ways. Back then, they offered a cash-back incentive. Let's say it was £2000. If you took that deal, then no other deals applied. If you wanted to trade your vehicle, then they might offer you £1000 cash back and give you a fantastic trade-in by adding the remaining £1000 to it.
0% finance worked similarly. There is no such thing as 0% finance, someone has to pay interest on borrowed money. You pay that interest from the cash-back incentive.

It's just dressed up in such away you believe you are getting something you aren't. When you hear that "this is a deal for today and today only" then know there is more tucked away under the table. Salesmen work on commission, so the more profit they make for the company, the more they earn. They want your signature today. If they get that with a small deposit, they dissuade you from looking elsewhere. This is why doing your due diligence is so important before you speak to a dealer.

When they give you that 0% deal the ticket price is probably in a lot of cases 10% more than you’ll get it for elsewhere when you dig,the thing is the vast majority of the general public don’t dig for the reason being they can’t be or need to be bothered or just don’t want the psychological fight with the skinny fit cheap suited sales boy.

I always had this opinion on 0% interest too, normally you would pay closer to the list price, whereas an interest rate of around 5% would then mean more discount on the list price……….however I did bag 8k off the list price with 0% interest ( think minimum deposit was 30% ? ) on a new Custom Sport in 2019. Won’t get those sort of deals now tho, even with the over inflated list prices of today.

30k inc VAT in 2019, around 42k inc VAT now.
I expect we’ll see you in one soon enough as the new one which is about to be launched is a joint venture between VW & Ford😁

The Ford/PSA relationship seems to have hit the skids with PSA buying GM in Europe.  :D

Prices are crazy but if you want a new one then what can you do.

When I was looking at vans I was Initially wanting to spend about 15k. A few years ago that would get you a 2 year old van with very low mileage. Now they are 5 year old with 70k.

So in the end I took the plunge on a new one. 29k Inc vat

One positive is I will pay next to no tax next year with the annual investment allowance.
