I left home at 9am this morning and felt there something not right with my clutch on my Vivaro Van

by 1pm on my last job it completely went on me, I had to start it up in second gear and manage to limp home moving up into 3rd gear.

I could not get it booked in until next Wednesday at our local garage and the worst scenario it's gonna cost about £1,300 .

So it looks like a week off for me to recharge my batteries.

he told me that that would be the worst scenario if all needs replacing but hopefully it may come out a bit cheaper

That’s well over the top what they charging 950 labour.

Phone around you might be able to get it in another garage by the end of the week,  the down time not working and money lost would irritate me more than shelling out for the repair

Decent mileage for clutch to go. At least if you keep the van a few more years it is one less thing you will have to replace.

Vivaro's are cr@p - had 2 maybe 3 clutches on mine over the years - £1300 is top end - £750  is about the mark - but of course of late everything is going up dramatically in price

The clutch went on my Bipper a couple of months ago.
Had to get recovered, it was booked in for a new clutch the day after!
Took3/4 days, apparently everything was shot, clutch release fork etc.
165,000 miles.
Just over £700 all in.

It all depends if it has a duel mass flywheel ,if it has and that needs replacing  and quite often they do they are very expensive my master had to have a clutch and flywheel and it was a lot more than £1300 cannot remember the exact amount but think it was £1650 ish

They have recently and finally just dropped dramatically in price.
The Mk3 Ranger DMF from Ford was around £800, supply only for the thick end of a decade.
In the last year or so an OEM DMF can now be bought for around £350.

I don’t know why people buy vans that are almost certain to give you grief all the people I know that have had Vivaros or the other makes that are the same vehicle,Trafic-Primistar have had nothing but problems clutches gearboxes at near enough the same mileage 35-40000 miles and gone on to have it happen again before they reach 100000.

My renault traffic is 5 year old now and hasnt gave me one jot of bother.

Vans are different nowadays, it’s really pot luck.

I used to have a Toyota hiace, now THAT was a bomb proof van.

I used to have a Trafic (same as Vivaro) and clutch replacement at 75,000 miles cost about £650 at Mr Clutch. This was about 12 years ago so it wouldn't surprise me to know it's doubled in that time. When they do the job, they're meant to change slave cylinder too as it doesn't add much to the cost and is awkward to change on its own.

Didn’t you say you had your clutch/flywheel changed on your Transporter?
