We have a pro ace long wheelbase 1400kg payload with an Ionic’s thermopure 600 in it drives well full 140 bhp and not bad on fuel , it’s a nice van but does suffer with some Peugeot electrical problems!,,, it’s very quite ,comfortable and nice to drive .

2.0 hdi is the one to go for, 1.6 has to work too hard IMO.

I have a 16 year old 2.0 hdi dispatch and am keeping it as long as possible, as all new vans are more complicated and thus more prone to faults/problems.

I have the short wheelbase Proace, (comfort trim). Payload is 1,100kg I have a 700 litre pure2o (ionics) system.

I’ve had it nearly 5 years now, it’s been a fantastic van. Service interval is only every 2 years, never had any problems (of any sort) with it, other than normal wear and tear. Eg brake pads, and  I replaced the clutch 2 months ago (£515)

I chose Toyota (rather than Peugeot or Citroen) because it had a 5-year warranty, instead of 3 year.

Also, Toyota sent me a letter saying that as long as I continue to get it serviced at Toyota on schedule, they’ll increase the warranty to a maximum of 10 years. They’re doing that with all of their vehicles now.

It has a 1.6 litre turbo Diesel engine, perfectly adequate for our use, doesn’t struggle even with a full tank.

Highly recommend.

Not going to pretend I'm a petrol head but the advise from my mechanic is always go for the 2l not the 1.6,the 1.6 is more problematic. I had a 2l dispatch before my transit and will probably go back down the dispatch/expert/proace route next time.

I've got a 2L dispatch. Two side doors, 3 seats, 1400kg payload. As Splash says I've had a few electrical problems with it....alarm goes off for no reason and it won't switch off until IT decides to switch off. I'd buy the Toyota next time due to the warranty. Same van really.
We look at them, they look through them.

Mind you, on the basis that the finance is only going to be three to five years then you are only likely to get a one or two MOT's anyway.

I lease my van with the option to buy after 5 years , I only do around 3000 miles a year so will only have around 15K on the clock . I might buy it and keep it for another 5 years and then sell it at 30k mileage …. Depending on what’s happening with electric vehicles at that time

Yes I've just got one albeit the L2

Great payload and good spec.

I find it great to drive, smooth engine and comfy but it's a work van not a ferrari. What makes you say it's horrible to drive ?

As for reliability there's not a vehicle out there that someone will tell you is unreliable be it a dispatch, transit custom or a caddy etc.

Compared to many other vans driving  it is like taking a step back 10-15 years in time like driving a tractor , by modern standards , it’s very noisy, not that responsive , and heavy  controls , I guess it depends what you are used to driving , I agree it’s for work not pleasure , but the gearboxes are very prone to failure as is the clutch horrendous clutch judder in 1 st and reverse on hills  , they have a couple of modifications  to the clutch and gearboxes but it’s still very poor . I have friends that have had them in panel van form and motor homes and had nothing but trouble with them and ended up selling  them ion at a huge loss .
