Could have been avoided if he didn’t climb 3 floors up on ladders  ???
A guy round my end fell of his ladders and ended up in a coma , refused to buy a wfp system so he could undercut everyone and charge £3 a house . He no longer works.
I had his customers ringing me within weeks to come and give them a quote…

Such a horrific tragedy for his son to experience, knowing with hindsight it could so easily have been prevented if only his father had done a better risk assessment prior to cleaning without  a safety harness, even ladders outside would have been safer. WFP has minimised the risks for a good reason.  Must be horrific for him knowing it could so easily have been prevented, that will haunt him for the rest of his life, poor lad.
Customers don't care about our safety when it comes to saving money, that's why it's so important not to cut corners when it comes to safety. If something doesn't feel right it;s a big no from me. Safety is and always will be paramount to me, that's why I won't work above 50ft with poles as that's the limit I feel in control at or try extending pole at ridiculous angles  and lengths over obtrusive extensions, takes it's toll on our bodies eventually, no matter how fit we are.
I'm winding down and don't need the awkward jobs any longer, leave them to the younger, fitter lads with more stamina.

Tragic but why oh why at 69 years old would you be up there.

Took a screen shot to show next time I'm asked for a quote and asked why I don't do it the "proper" way.

I just read the court documents. (Fatal Accident Inquiries - Scottish Courts) It seems he went out onto the ledge from the inside and was holding onto a grab handle inside which broke. Poor sod fell three floors onto railings then into the basement gully.
It's a game of three halves!

Very sad , but he clearly had no concept of health and safely he should never have been doing what he was if he had done the bob correctly and done a full risk assessment he would still be alive , unfortunately there is no body to enforce the health and safety laws until something like this happens . Very sad .

No excuses in this day and age....its wfp or no clean....I know 2 window cleaners  who are both in their late 70s who use ladders all the time..they even use rope to tie them on their cars! ;D

Rather them than me....
price higher/work harder!

How many times do you hear health and safety gone mad ?
By people who have never done anything remotely dangerous in their  tepid lives
More asocial commentary but maybe he was working because the so called state pension won’t even cover his council tax, bills and so on mine was stolen by Robert maxwell  I have to work on and hopefully  we don’t end up like him
wfp saves lives you trip rather than fall

I still know people who either clean Trad or WFP depending on what the customer wanted.

You obviously haven’t seen a lot of bad trad cleaning then that’s all I can say just because you clean that way means nothing, you can do an awful job both ways if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Innocence and experience was just quoting a comment from a reader.

He wasn't agreeing or giving his perspective.

Very sad indeed, really hope his son didn't actually witness the fall itself, hard enough to deal with anyway without  being traumatised by that.
