Pay at the pump fuel card
« on: May 19, 2022, 06:56:06 pm »
Anyone know a fuel card i can use for diesel that you can pay at the pump? Am currently using fuel genie but you have to go into the shop to pay and there’s often a queue. Be much quicker & easier to pay at the pump. I just want to pay the pump price. Not after anything else. Only have one employee & before fuel genie i had to either fuel it myself or give him my debit card.

Can't you use one of those cards that you top up for kids. i.e. just put money on it so he can fuel up - it will probably cost you a small fee.

My experience in the past with a fuel card wasn’t what I expected. I thought it was just like an interest free credit card and I get the bill quarterly and pay it off.
I knew there was a yearly payment of £60 or something like that to have the benefit of using this fuel card but what I didn’t realise until about the 3rd payment was that the fuel card company adds a few pence more on to every litre you fill up. As it was quarterly billed , I didn’t realise , as I had filled up quite a few times in 3 months so never noticed the extra they were adding on my bill every time I filled up.
The last quarterly bill I sat down and added up how much I had filled up and then noticed my bill being higher than what I actually used.
I cancelled straight away as it just wasn’t worth it and now just use my normal business account card. I’m not sure how other fuel cards work but this was called (I think) fuel genie.

Sounds like you had a bad one - we use cards for diesel - we don't pay the forecourt price but a set price agreed at the start of the contract - this was around 6p a litre below the cheapest garage forecourt price.

it has changed as all fuel has gone up so there is a new rate but I haven't checked with the office admin on the current rate compared to forecourt prices (which are horrendous)
