Woke up at 7am done 30 mins of basic yoga, stretching, foam rolling and a bit of band work with slow, controlled breathing...

Now I'm gonna sit on my arse until my 230pm gym session. ;D

My foot feels worse in the morning,no swelling at all just achy all along the top of my foot when i put weight on it.i think its extensor tendonitis.if it was broken or fractured the pain would be a lot worse and I'd have bruising and swelling.

I fell off my ladders twice and landed on my heels in the past and I was fine.i know window cleaners who shattered their heels falling off theirs....now that must be horrendous!

Hey dazmond,  i don't get you,  if your van was having engine problems, you would get it straight into the garage to get it
sorted, the same as your Grippatank water heater, to minimise on work Downtime, as we all like our Vans & systems to work
to their full potential, yet you are limping around with a painful foot, taking time off work, hoping it will fix itself, by delaying
seeing a specialist, you could be making the problem worse.

I'll give it until monday and if its no better I'll book an appointment to see someone.itll be 2 weeks next monday since I woke up with a sore foot so any x ray should show up a metatarsal stress fracture for example(before 2 weeks they don't show on x rays).also I'll be able to tell them I've tried ibuprofen, resting it and the foot stretching exercises,etc....without a proper xray it's all guess work anyway even for the specialists

Sorry Daz but you are overestimating the amount of pain of a stress fracture. As previously said I’ve had quite a few and most of the time I’ve been able to atleast carry on working. No amount of foam rolling or stretching will help with a stress fracture, only rest.

You could actually be doing a lot more damage with your self diagnosis and self treatment plan.

Phone the doctors and ask for some “Manup” pills before it’s too late!

Both physiotherapists/osteopaths I know are fully booked this week anyway.the foam rolling and stretching is not just for my foot but my whole body.it makes me feel better while I'm leading a temporary sedentary lifestyle.

So what did you do Danny?carry on working?or did you have a few weeks off with your foot up?

Metatarsal stress fractures often get missed and don't show up on x rays until new bone starts to grow back....

The first time I was forced to take nearly two weeks off then eased myself back in. Wasn’t an option as I was in agony every time I tried to put weight on it.

Second time it wasn’t nearly as bad and I could manage by kind of limping over my big toe. It took ages to heal this time though probably because I didn’t rest, nearly 8 weeks before I was no longer limping.

Third time I did it the day before a 3 week beach  holiday so was able to give it plenty of rest without missing extra work.

1st and 3rd time was picked up on X-ray, second time was during Covid and getting X-ray was impossible but physio diagnosed based on previous history.

Yep all caused by running too many miles without building up my mileage properly.

It’s commonly called a marching fracture, common in runners, hikers, soldiers etc.

I’ll only use an Osteopath if I can feel I’ve popped out lower down the back or really need clicking between the shoulder blades,I wouldn’t waste time and money with one for your issue you’d be better off seeing a good physiotherapist unless you’ve broken a bone odds on it’ll be ligament or tendon damage.

It does take ages to heal because you think the problem is in the area directly that hurts so you ignore ligaments and tendons above it,if you have strained or tight tendons somewhere else in the leg the foots not able to bend and move freely hence the strain or pull in the foot I spent ages with  a chiropractor trying to sort Plantar issues,he was clueless.

I reckon it's either tendonitis on the top of my foot or a hairline fracture in a metatarsal....

I did another 30 mins this morning of stretches, foam rolling, band work and basic yoga moves...it sets me up for the day...

Off for a swim now to break up the day 🏊‍♂️

Trust me if I could shrug it off I'd be out working mate...swimming and my gym sessions are not hard on my feet....its normal walking and being on my feet for hours that's the problem.
